Chapter Text
The past few months after Fyodor’s death have been…a handful, to say the least. First Atsushi had been teleported to London somehow, then Dazai got switched over to the Port Mafia. The agency had to deal with a trial to prove their innocence, while at the same time trying to find Atsushi, and when they finally got Atsushi back Atsushi looked like he went through hell.
Although, between this confusion something new was in the air. A message of alliance, from Mori Ougai, leader of the Port Mafia, to Yukichi Fukuzawa, the leader of the Armed Detective Agency.
Akutagawa had no idea how this sparked up, but if it meant he had to deal with the weretiger–he wasn’t having it.
Akutagawa didn’t care if Atsushi had twice the amount of scars now or was teleported randomly to London of all places, he was not going to talk to him.
Although this reasoning didn’t come from hatred as most would think, this time it came from a new feeling, one Akutagawa couldn’t come to terms with.
About a month ago a rescue mission was sent out for Atsushi, and the person who had to save him was Akutagawa.
Of course Akutagawa only did this for the Port Mafia and Mori’s weird “plan” he was concocting, but Akutagawa could feel that something weird was happening.
Jumping out of the helicopter, he took straight to the weretigers location, he noticed something, no one was there. Sure, usually it would make sense no one was in an abandoned train station, but the whole reason Akutagawa was here was because others were supposed to be here.
As he expected the abandoned train was rusted to the track, stuck. The rails were rusty too and broken in some places. The entire area felt old, musty, and frail.
While Akutagawa walked further into the abandoned station he felt a blade behind his back, piercing his lower spine. Quickly turning around he expected to see the person who was pursuing Atsushi or maybe even Atsushi himself, but all he saw was the train. No one was there.
“Rashomon!” Akutagawa yelled, letting out three tendrils of his black cloak. Even if you can’t see the enemy you have to be ready.
Just as he was about to turn back around, Akutagawa felt that feeling of a blade but except there were several of them, attacking him from all sides. Akutagawa tried to use Rashomon as armor, but it was too late.
Coughing up hacks of blood, Akutagawa jumped away from the unknown enemy onto the top of the train. He still couldn’t find the weretiger, why was he even worried for that idiot tiger anyway?
Suddenly Akutagawa thought that he heard pipe cracks creaking above him. Looking up, the rusty metal used on the roof looked like it was getting slashed at by several small blades, making it wobble and frail.
Wait they are going to fall–Shit they are going to fall! Akutagawa tried to jump off or use Rashomon to protect himself, but four blades had already pinned his cloak to the ground.
Damnit how could I be this stupid! Just as part of the roof collapsed down, a flash of white hair ran by and jumped up to the train.
*CLANK*
“Y–you good, Akutagawa?” Akutagawa turned his head over and– his heart skipped a beat. He hadn’t seen the weretiger in months, he changed.
Atsushi’s hair was much longer than before and even more black stripes plagued it. His clothes changed though. His normally white shirt was switched out for more of a muddy gray one and his pants actually went down to ankles. Although, the weretigers gloves were scratched up to the point where you could see his palms covered in scratches, claw scratches…. Luckily, his eyes still sparkled, sadly less than before but it still gave Akutagawa hope. Wait, it gave him hope?.
“Yea–yeah I’m fine.” Akutagwa replied as Atsushi threw the roof pieces away with his tiger hands he used to protect them both from the roof downfall. “Anyway, where is the enemy?”
“Oh, he’s kind of invisible. It’s confusing, just grab every blade you see and pass them to me, this will make sense later.” Akutagawa nodded, his heart still pounding heavily.
Rushing around the abandoned station, Akutagawa did as he was told by the weretiger, pick up any blades and dodge as many as you can. He still had no idea what that was about, but he followed the weretigers lead anyway.
“...fifty two, fifty three, fifty four, hey, Akutagawa do you have the last blade on you by any chance?” Atsushi asked, counting the blades.
“Uh–no, are we missing one–Weretiger!” Akutagawa screamed as he noticed blood trickle down Atsushi’s stomach. When Akutagawa looked up he saw that Atsushi got impaled right through the stomach by a large sword held by the now seen enemy.
In sheer reflex, Akutagawa sent two different strands of Rashomon to the enemy and Atsushi. One quickly picked up the cloaked enemy by the waist, while the other snatched Atsushi's stomach to try and stop the bleeding.
Damnit! This is not the time to feel weird butterflies! Swiftly, Akutagawa grabbed his phone from his jacket and dialed in Chuuya’s number.
“Argh–hey! This isn’t the last–” but before the enemy could say another word Akutagawa wrapped the man’s entire body with rashomon and squeezed it until all that was left was blood, bones, guts, and a skin–like shell.
Finally Chuuya picked up, “Hey kiddo! Do you need the–”
“Chuuya! Quickly we need the helicopter to get over here and fly us back to Yokohama!”
“Alright I’ll send it back–wait Yokohama!? You're in the outskirts of London, that would take thirteen hours–?”
“I don’t care Chuuya, we need the healer from the ADA soon, the Weretiger is bleeding!”
“Couldn’t you just go to a hospital–”
“Chuuya.” The desperation and firmness in Akutagawa’s voice set the tone for what needed to be done. With a sigh Chuuya agreed and said,
“Fine, just stay where you are now, and I'll hop on the helicopter too and use my gravity manipulation to somehow make it go faster.”
“Thanks, Chuuya.”
After around thirty minutes, Akutagawa heard a familiar roar of helicopter blades as Chuuya landed in a grass patch near the train station.
“Aye, Kiddo, get over here.”
Once on the helicopter Akutagawa dismissed Rashomon to show Chuuya the fainted Weretiger's un–ideal state. Luckily it wasn’t as bad as before as his ability was already regenerating his stomach.
“Damn, I see why you would want Yosano now. That’s a deadly blow.” Chuuya said as he took out his phone, “I’m gonna call the agency about this, be right back.” With those words Chuuya strode over to the head of the helicopter and started its flight.
He looks so cute, even un–consious…wait a second! When did I start thinking stupid sappy things like that? It’s almost like I’m in love with him–no way! Anyway that doesn’t matter now I should look at his health.
Looking more closely at Atsushi, he had tons of scars everywhere. The weirdest thing though was that the ones on his arms seemed more like claw marks or cuts–I shouldn’t dwell on that, the Weretiger knows better.
“We’re here, kid!” Yelled Chuuya from the cockpit of the helicopter.
“Already?”
“Not exactly, I got the Healer from the ADA on a different helicopter that will meet us half way, so she’ll pick up the Weretiger from there.” Chuuya explained while Akutagawa nodded slowly. They soon walked out of the helicopter and passed the fainted Atsushi to Yosano who had a face of worry and contentment.
I’m glad he’s safe now…this is so weird.
It’s been about a month since then, and now with Akutagawa’s past prayers of “I do not want to see the Weretiger!” failing, Akutagawa is stuck bringing a letter of alliance to the Agency.
The path to the agency from his house was a bit of a long one, since he lived on the other side of the city. It was quite nice though to see a calming atmosphere walking down the street than a dingy one like on the way to his work.
After a few more corners he finally made it.
“This is a waste of my time.” Akutagawa sighs as the door to the cafe underneath the agency looms over him. With a deep breath that makes him cough for a bit, Akutagawa pushes open the doors of the Agency, with only one thing on his mind: Am I really in love with the Weretiger?
