Chapter Text
Zim sat at his desk, having just had a scuffle with the Dib-human. Typical for the two of them. They'd been having these scuffles since 6th grade, so no one thought much of it. Not even their main teacher, Ms Bitters. She had grown used to the two throwing hands, banter and insults. She mostly unbothered by it at this point, typically not stepping in to stop the two pre-teens unless the dual was getting to out of hand.
Zim sighed. He brushed his black side bangs out of his face, glancing down at his textbook with boredom. He was uninterested in what Ms Bitters was rambling about. She was rambling her typical pessimistic manner.
Zim glanced up at the clock, it was only 10 am. It had only been in school for an hour. It just wanted the day to be over. It just wanted to go home and do something else. Maybe watch a tolerable television show. Or something like that. It just began to make silly doodles of characters it liked in its notebook.
Xe then glanced over to see what Dib was doing. Xe noticed something… odd. Dib wasn't drawing anime girls or boys making out, detailed gore, or cryptids. He had sneaked in… raw fish specifically, salmon into class? And was secretly eating it?
Zim blinked in confusion. Wow… I suppose the Dib is weirder than I thought… why he eating raw fish? Isn't raw meat bad for humans? Zim questioned. Xe kept its mouth shut. But xyr face said it all. He was concerned and very confused. He had never seen Dib eat raw fish before…
The bell rang. It was now Lunch. Students rushed out of the classroom, eager to eat their food and gossip about whatever the big talk was this week. Maybe one of the popular kids was cheating on their partner, or maybe one of them had a crush on a nerd and or reject kid.
Zim got up from his seat, ready to confront on why they were eating raw fish.
He headed towards the door, walking out of the room. He easily spotted Dib given that strange smelling black trench coat they wore everyday, no matter the weather. It often smelled… strangely like salt water.
Zim quietly followed him, sneaking past the other kids. Soon enough, it and Dib were alone. Dib seemed to notice its presence almost immediately given the smell of the Britney Zpherez Fantazy fragrance, other body sprays and lotion Zim used. Dib turned around and locked eyes with it. Their brown eyes full of annoyance.
"What do you want Zim." Dib demanded, getting up in Zim's face. The stench of raw fish lingered on his breath. Zim's face wrinkled at the smell despite the fact xe had no nose. "Dib-human, care to explain why you were eating raw fish in class? Isn't that bad for your species?" Zim questioned. Dib bit his lip. "Those were sour belts, doofus. Second off all, even if I was eating raw fish in class that would be none of your fucking business." He spat.
Dib then turned his back away from Zim, his various keychains on his briefcase jingling as he walked away to go sit with Keef. Zim stood there, still unconvinced and wanting answers.
I'll ask the Gaz-human… Xe decided.
Xe walked up to Gaz. She was playing her video game. Unlike Dib, she smelled pleasant. Her hair smelled of floral scents and she smelled like lavender with a dash of dark chocolate. Unlike Dib, who often smelled like onions, fish and stale pizza rolls with some shitty dollar store cologne as an attempt to "mask" the smell, but it only made him smell worse.
"Hey Gaz. Why was the Dib-stink eating raw fish?" Zim asked. Gaz glanced up from her Gameslave with a sigh of annoyance and looked up at Zim, meeting xyr gaze. "He probably wasn't. But if he was, he's weird like that. I wouldn't think much of it." She replied, it didn't seem like she had anything to hide.
"Okay then." Zim said before xe walked away, turning away from Gaz. Maybe the Dib-human really was weird.
Dib and Gaz walked home from school, to their house on Vasquez Aveune. Dib was in a rush, he ran rather than walked. He opened the door in a hurry "Dad!" He shouted, out of breath, panting; unsure if his father was home or not.
"Yes, son?" Professor Membrane questioned. "I have bad news!" Dib panted, trying to catch their breath. Professor Membrane felt knots form in his stomach at that. "Someone saw me eating raw fish in class today- Zim saw me eating raw fish in class!" They repeated.
"Dibert! You're going to have be a lot more careful, young man!" Professor Membrane scolded them. "No one can know we are sirens. We cannot risk someone finding out. If they do, who knows what could happen!" He went on.
"Okay Dad…" Dib sighed with a sense shame and guilt. Gaz glared at him, "So that's why Zim asked me why you were eating raw fish today?!" Gaz blurted. Dib sighed, "Yes Gaz, that's why that alien dickwad asked you that question." Dib replied. "Dibert! Watch that language, young they!" Professor Membrane scolded once more. Dib let out a grunt with clenched teeth.
He then went upstairs, disappearing into his bedroom.
Dib was now in his room, he collapsed onto his bed after kicking off his combat boots once they were untied. He was still to lazy to change into house clothes.
Maybe I'll take a salt water bath… Dib though to himself. He got up and went to the bathroom attached to his room, beginning to run a bath in the nice jet tub he had. Oh well, that made perfect sense. His father was a rich scientist. Of course they would have luxuries jet tubs. It was nice and roomy too. Perfect for housing a fish tail.
Dib also added salt, a blue bath bomb and bubbles to the tub. They went to go get a snack. It was a bowl of plantain chips with a glass of water with some fancy nugget ice. They loved plantains, even if they weren't common in Mexican food. They still loved them. Anytime they went to a Cuban or Carribean restaurant they always asked for an order of Maduros.
They made sure the water was nice and warm before getting in. Soon enough, he was bathing. He enjoyed the bubbles and warm water. His hair was in it's natural state, wavy. Rather then stick straight with tons of hair products. He snacked on plantain chips and drank some water with a straw, chewing on the ice as well. It felt nice to take a warm bath after a long day at school. His light green tail fin poked out of the water. They knew that pizza was for dinner, so they were also looking forward to that.
Zim had arrived home. Skoodge went out to do something with Keef, probably fishing. So he wasn't there. Gir was making waffles and making an absolute mess in the kitchen. Waffle batter was all over table and all over Gir itself, broken eggs were scattered on the floor, milk was spilt. Sugar was also on the table. Along with… a bar of soap?? Perhaps it was maybe Gir's lousy attempt at trying to clean.
Zim felt of a sense of rage, but he let out a sigh, not wanting to holler at Gir to loudly.
"Gir! Look at this giant mess you've made!" Zim scolded, frustrated. He didn't want to deal with this after dealing with school.
Gir met Zim's gaze with a frown. "But master! I love making waffles!" Gir frowned. Zim groaned. "I know you do. But you better clean this up when you're done. I really, really did not want to come home to this today." He stated, before walking to his bedroom to relax.
Meanwhile.
A chilly breeze blew, causing the leaves to ruffle in the wind. The grass blew slightly as well and so did the blooming flowers. It was a dark, rather grim night. It felt a bit frightening to be alone at this section of the park this late. The faint sounds of bugs and birds could be heard if someone cared to listen.
She creeped in the shadows, behind the and under the canopy of maple trees, cautiously looking around. Her companion by her side. "Tak, are we on that horrible planet Earth again?" Mimi questioned, glancing up at Tak. Her eyes red and luminous.
"Yes, unfortunately." Tak answered in her trans-atlantic accent. "Sorry Mimi, but i don't know where we can go otherwise. Irk is out of the question. They'd throw me in Moo-Ping 10 again." She said. "So we have to stay here for now. I need to get my ship back from that human, Dib anyway. Then we can leave."
Mimi groaned. "Alright then." She replied in her posh accent. It then nodded. "Where are we going to stay?" It questioned. Tak shrugged. "Maybe a motel… I'm not sure if they'd allow a 12 year old by herself though…" She acknowledged.
Oh well. They'd figure this out later.
