Chapter Text
Grian didn't know how long he had been walking for. The Watchers just dumped him in the middle of nowhere and told him to help.
Help what? And why was this place surrounded by a holy barrier? It was strange for a stretch of land unless something is being hidden here. Or protecting the outside.
He saw a large gothic castle over a bridge that did not look structurally sound so best to stay away. Yeah sure he could just fly over but he didn't want to cause trouble by trespassing. And he had hidden so it would be too much of a hassle to bring them out. He kept his features hidden for a good reason.
Who knows how they felt about hybrids.
So he spun on his heel and headed deeper into the forest.
There were no animals to be heard as he continued down a dirt path he had found. It seemed to stretch out into the plains and as he gazed he saw a wooden fortification.
To no one in particular he said, “ I don't really want to die today”, and he started to walk away.
Before he got 3 steps into the woodland he felt expecting glares on the back of his neck and sighed. He had to go in there, didn't he? It was the first sign of life he had seen, other than that creepy castle.
So he started to concentrate his magic and summoned a purple eye high above the seeming settlement.
It seemed empty and if not for the animal pens and well cared for houses he would have assumed it was abandoned. He saw a crack of a door and out stepped a person with a white dress? Or maybe a sheet.
Whatever it wasn't important what they dressed in, they just had to study him. So he tried to send out another eye.
Or he would have if he didn't get startled by a black haired man in a suit tapping his shoulder.
“ACK! Who are you?!” the parrot squawked at the sudden presence behind him.
"I could ask you the same question stranger. How did you get in? We thought the barrier was not letting anything through.”
“Uhhhh my name’s Grian. And I just kinda walked in.” he said it like he didn't remember him doing it. Lying was the best option for this strange place.
“Do you know where this is?”
“We are in Oakhurst Grian. You may call me Abolish.”
The man, Abolish, was cool and collected in an almost dangerous manner. His demeanor was cold and scary to Grian who’s free and bubbly spirit clashed with his vibe so he tried to lighten the mood.
“Damn what could possibly be the reasons for that wall. You at war?” he chuckled but the man’s face fell and became colder. So he hit a nerve apparently, were they at war? That would explain how he had to ’help’.
“Come on then Grian. I'll show you around town.” he grabbed his hand and started to drag him towards the town of Oakhurst.
It was a quiet place for sure but the presence of animals was a comfort. It was also surrounded in holy light. Abolish had shown him around the place and brought him to the tavern. The man with the white clothes walked in afterwards and headed straight for Abolish. He had a tired look on him.
His face twisted in surprise and confusion when he laid eyes on Grian.
“Hi I’m Grian Moon. I came through the border.”
“Doctor Legundo. But you can call me Legs. I will alert the town of your presence. You and Pearl share the same name.I truly hope you don't get too caught up in all this.” He brought Abolish outside to talk to him and left the avian alone.
It had been about 15 minutes when his sister came through the door.
“If the Watchers sent you here then don't interfere. This is my war.” Her tone was cold and harsh for a girl who hadn't seen her brother in 100 years.
Then again Pearl was always kinda crazy and her stress must be through the roof with a whole-ass war happening
Grian felt something disrupt the holiness of the town and heard shouts from outside.
An Scottish accented voice rang out cold and mean against the confused shouting.
“Give up already Abolish. You are not winning this silly little feud. We will win. It is inevitable.”
“Scott you and your filthy coven shouldn't be able to make that decision” Legundo yelled.
“Wow, ‘filthy’. You humans really don't understand the non-humans of the world. You exiled poor Shelby when she joined. No wonder Owen hates you.”
Ok Grian had enough of this yelling but listening in had granted him some details. First of all the town was fighting what were either witches or vampires because of the use of the term coven.
Next, the town didn't like non-humans. That would probably be an issue for him when he wanted to stretch with his wings.
And finally the attacker was probably his friend. The same Scott that had disappeared from his life 600 years ago and all his immortal friends forgot him.
Memories of immortals are hard to keep in one piece if you are not strong enough. Pearl, Scott and himself were good examples. Being the first Celestials and all that.
Pearl always liked to play around and sometimes she got attached so she lied about her memories but she always did like to play with her food.
A thought then crossed his mind. If Pearl was going to tell him not to interfere then G was definitely going to interfere.
He made up his mind and stepped outside to face the noises of conflict...
