Chapter Text
The texting had started off professional. Queries about the shift rota, requests for help with patients. Nothing out of the ordinary between colleagues.
Baran
Could you check on North 4 after your break? Let me know how his abdominal pain is doing.
Dr Santos
how do you always know when i just sat down?
but sure
on it boss 🫡
Trinity had always text in a casual way, that at first Baran found unprofessional and now just found endearing. It was nice to know that even with her position as Trinity’s superior it didn’t stop her resident from speaking to her in such a relaxed manner. It made her feel more real in a lot of ways; not just a robotic boss but someone seen as an actual person.
There were other messages too. Ones that skirted the line between professional and friendly. Even a few, quickly moved on from, that Baran would be convinced were flirting if she didn’t know better.
Dr Santos
you owe me for north 4
one second slower and i’d be joining huck with a second set of scrubs before lunch
Baran
It’s literally your job, I owe you nothing.
But I appreciate your dedication all the same, Dr Santos.
Dr Santos
still
could have warned me he was a category 3 spewer
Baran
I trust in your reflexes.
Dr Santos
trust and dedication all before midday?
i’m honoured
you still owe me
Baran
I do not.
Dr Santos
shh
you can make it up to me with coffee
Baran
You actually like the coffee here?
Dr Santos
no
guess you’ll have to make it up to me some other way
The part Baran was trying not to think about were the messages that had nothing to do with work. Baran had text one morning not realising it was Trinity’s day off. She’d replied something about her plans for the day, involving takeout and quote “a fuckton of me making tom nook’s life a nightmare.” After some clarification that her resident wasn’t intent on real-world harm to someone, and was in fact having beef with a cartoon animal in a video game, they’d started talking more and more outside of work.
A lot of their conversation revolved around inane details about their lives, like what sport Kian was trying out for this semester (soccer), and what Dennis had stolen this week (more avocados and Trinity’s last Celsius). Other times it got a bit more real, such as after a hard patient death that left Baran shook, or once an anniversary that Baran didn’t get any details about but spent three hours distracting Trinity about at her request. She’d received a box of her favourite herbal tea stashed in her locker the next day, with a post-it note that just said “thnks”.
And then there were the texts that always came late at night, after they’d been talking for too long already and the hospital was a world away. Normally one of them would slip, saying something that would only just about be explainable to HR. The other would ignore it, or it would get deleted before it could be replied to.
There was the time Baran had said, You know I think you’re beautiful Trinity.
Or when Trinity sent, i had a dream about you last night, i was disappointed when i woke up
Baran had been particularly upset when that one got deleted. She’d had follow up questions.
It was getting late now. She was lying on her bed, not ready to get under the covers and go to sleep, for reasons she was trying to convince herself were entirely unrelated to the person in her phone. They’d been texting for the last hour.
Baran
Next time send me a photo. I’m still not sure I believe you can make a burger bigger than Dennis’s head.
Dr Santos
non-believer
you don’t trust me?
Baran
I trust you, Trinity.
Just maybe not about culinary achievements.
Dr Santos
i trust you too
you know that right? there’s not a lot of people who i can talk to about some stuff
but idk
i like that i can w you
Baran
Thank you. I feel the same way.
Dr Santos
can I be honest w you then for a second
Baran
Of course.
Dr Santos
why are we pretending this is just friendship
i think about you and my whole body gets hot
i think you feel the same
I’m so attracted to you it makes me stupid
like sending this message
Baran stared at the phone screen. They’d been dancing around this for so long that she never thought Trinity would actually address it. She’d recognised her attraction to Trinity months ago, when she’d heard the words “wouldn’t want to delay hospital billing.” She’d done the mature, professional thing, and pushed that attraction as far down as she could manage. Somewhere deep and dark and locked, where it wouldn’t cause any problems.
She had enough self-awareness to know that that box hadn’t done a good job of staying locked. The late-night messages were proof enough of that.
Still, she knew nothing could come of this. As much as thinking about Trinity made her whole body hot as well, she couldn’t let it make her stupid too.
Baran
You know that there are professional lines I can’t cross. There are rules. I’m your boss.
Trinity’s reply came instantly.
Dr Santos
i don’t care.
do you?
Baran let her head fall back against the headboard with a thud. She closed her eyes and let out a long, controlled breath through her nose. This was wrong, she knew it was wrong. Her heart thumped like a traitor in her own chest.
Just because Trinity said she didn’t care about the dangerous waters she was trying to swim in didn’t mean that Baran had to jump in after her. She was the one in a position of power here. No matter what she wanted this was unprofessional. Dangerous. It could end badly for both of them.
Baran
Of course I care. I don’t want to jeopardize your career, or mine.
I can’t have favourites. And I definitely can’t touch you like that.
Baran realised her mistake the moment she hit send. She tried to quickly delete the message but Trinity was faster.
Dr Santos
like what?
how do you want to touch me?
And wasn’t that the million-dollar question? Baran knew all the ways she wanted Trinity. The thoughts had kept her from falling asleep countless nights by now, and had even caught her off guard at work. Watching Trinity leant over a patient bedside, cataloguing the curve of her back and the stretch of her shoulders, thinking about the way those muscles would look in her bed. Eyes glued to her fingers as she spun a pen in her hand, mesmerised by the absentminded dexterity. Seeing the loose strands framing her face at the end of a long shift, and having to stop herself from reaching out and pushing them behind her ear, threading her fingers into her hair and pulling her closer just to-
No. It was bad enough she was having these thoughts in private. There was no way she could voice them to Trinity herself.
Her phone vibrated with another message.
Dr Santos
tell me Baran
Baran’s thumb hovered over the screen. She should put a stop to this. She should tell Trinity to back off. She knew her well enough that she was confident Trinity would drop this if Baran asked.
So why wasn’t her thumb moving?
A few moments later Trinity messaged again. Baran watched them as they appeared.
Dr Santos
you want me to start?
because i can
i’ve thought about you a lot
And because Baran was weak, and she could feel her heartbeat in her ears, and her bedroom was suddenly too warm to think straight, she replied.
Baran
What have you thought about?
The reply was slower this time. The ‘typing’ dots blinked up at her and Baran’s breath burned where it was held in her chest.
Dr Santos
you get this look on your face sometimes, when i say something back to you, and its like I can see your breath hitch and your eyes widen and it sends my fucking head spinning
and i have to pretend like i’m not embarrassingly turned on in the middle of the fucking ED and wishing you would do something about it
Baran’s eyes widened at the message. Shamefully she knew exactly what Trinity was talking about. She thought she was better at hiding her reactions but clearly she was wrong. God, who else had noticed? She prayed it was only Trinity. She would never be able to live it down if her colleagues had seen her like that.
Baran
I didn’t realise I was so obvious.
Dr Santos
only to me
at first I thought it was wishful thinking bc every time i look at you i think about kissing you
but then i realised you like putting me in my place
it gets you hot too
Baran
Trinity.
Dr Santos
Baran
Baran
It does make me hot too.
You affect me.
Dr Santos
how can you make the word affect so hot
fuck
Baran’s hands were shaking. Heat had travelled up her chest and was causing a sheen of sweat to gather in the hollow of her throat. Just a few words on a screen and she was losing all her restraint, all the reasons this was wrong becoming less important with every message. She needed to bring things back under control.
Baran
This still doesn’t change the fact that I am your boss. We can’t do this.
Dr Santos
oh yeah your infamous ‘rules’
the ones saying you can’t touch me
Baran
Exactly.
I’m glad you understand Trinity. It’s important that we don’t break them.
Disappointment sank into her stomach at her own message. For the first time in her life Baran wished she was more lawless. She thought that doing the right thing here would give her relief, the way it usually did when she knew she was keeping dangerous things contained. Instead it curdled inside her, somehow heavier than the guilt of her unprofessional attraction.
Trinity, in a way that was becoming far too familiar, turned her thoughts inside out.
Dr Santos
then we won’t touch
but your rules don’t say anything about talking
INCOMING CALL: DR SANTOS
Baran stared at the vibrating phone in her hand with something akin to horror.
Surely Trinity wasn’t calling her? To keep this dangerous conversation going, in a way that Baran could hear her voice, couldn’t hide her own desire through text and punctuation?
She watched it ring, each flash of the screen a call to temptation. The longer it went on the more the fear morphed. She realised the thing she was more scared of was not hearing Trinity right now. Desire, sudden and all-consuming, had her terrified that the call would go to voicemail and she would never get this opportunity again.
She accepted the call.
Trinity’s voice came through, breathy and slightly nervous. “Wow, way to leave a girl hanging. Thought you weren’t going to answer for a second there.”
“Trinity.” Baran’s own voice came out rough, and she cleared her throat. “I didn’t expect you to call me.”
“What can I say? I’m full of surprises. I figured…” She heard Trinity shuffling somewhere, fidgeting in the pause before she continued, “I don’t know. I just wanted to hear you.”
Baran was learning to read Trinity. It had been slow to start, so many sharp edges, but it didn’t take a genius to clock the way the confidence had muted when the conversation had moved from text.
She couldn’t help but tease, just a little. “Well, you’ve got me, sweetheart. What did you want to talk about?”
Trinity swore, quiet enough that Baran was sure she hadn’t meant for her to hear. She smiled as Trinity said, “You can’t just say that.”
“Say what?”
“You know… ‘sweetheart’.”
“Why not?"
“Because,” Trinity floundered for a moment, “I’ve told you how much you turn me on, so that’s just rude.”
“You told me you get turned on when I look at you. You didn’t say anything about my words.”
“It was implied.”
Baran hummed. Something deeply satisfied moved through her body hearing Trinity get flustered. She let herself feel it. The guilt was shoved down, far enough away that the only thing left was the electricity on her skin, the shallow breaths of Trinity in her ear.
They weren’t crossing any lines, just like Trinity had said, they were just talking. No touching, no kissing. This was fine.
“Do you want me to stop calling you that?”
There was a pause. “No.”
Baran’s grin was shark-like. “Good."
The line was quiet for a moment, apart from their breathing and a tension that she knew they both felt. Anticipation, taut and just waiting for one of them to be the first to acknowledge where this was going.
Baran knew Trinity wouldn’t be the one to start this time. She had shown her hand already, pulling this whole situation out of Baran over text. The ball was firmly in Baran’s court.
Baran took one steadying breath, slammed the door shut on her professionalism, and said, “Where are you right now?”
Trinity exhaled. “Home. In my room. Huck’s at the farm. What about you?”
“The same. Kian’s at his father’s.”
“That’s nice.”
“Trinity.”
“Yes?”
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Baran had to ask, one last check-in before this went any further. “I meant what I said. I’m not going to touch you.”
Trinity’s breath sucked in sharp.
“I know. Don’t need you to touch me. Just need to hear you.” Her voice wavered slightly, barely a whisper as she said, “Please.”
Baran’s body responded instantly. Her cunt clenched around the sudden heat that pooled between her legs. God, one supplicated word and Baran was lightheaded with arousal. She wasn’t sure if she’d survive this phone call.
“Of course, sweetheart.” She ran her free hand along her belly, up along her ribs, needing to feel something beneath her hands. “I’ve got you. Have you already started? Tell me what you’re doing right now.”
“I’m.. I haven’t done anything yet. I almost did, when we were texting…”
“You were going to touch yourself when we texting?”
“You said I affected you,” she said, almost accusatorial.
“You do affect me. A lot. It’s honestly distracting.”
“Fuck.” Baran heard the phone jostle as Trinity presumably dropped it, before it was brought back up. “That’s so hot, Baran.”
“It’s just the truth. You distract me… I think about you a lot.”
“Yeah?”
“Hmm.” Baran’s fingers slid higher, thumb just brushing over the side of her breast as she mused aloud. “I think about you in my bed. I imagine what sound you’d make if I pressed my hand over your chest, ran my thumb over your nipples. Why don’t you show me?”
“Baran…” Trinity let out a soft gasp as she followed instruction. Baran’s head swam with need, picturing the way Trinity must look right now. “You feel really good. My nipple’s are pierced so they’re always so sensitive.”
The image in Baran’s head jumped from ‘hot’ to ‘devastating’ with that new information. Fuck, of course she’d have piercings. She clutched the phone tighter.
“Will you touch yourself for me? I need to hear you.”
“Yes.” Trinity made little breathy sounds of relief, each one a shock to Baran’s system. She continued for minutes, years, as Baran lost herself in the beautiful noise. “Needed this so bad. Please keep talking.”
Baran brought herself back to earth. “That’s it, keep going Trinity. You needed this, huh? Have you been desperate?”
“Hmm.”
“Oh, sweetheart.” Baran’s underwear was soaked. She let her knees fall apart and lay her hand over the wet fabric, just to get the tiniest bit of her own relief. Her hips rocked up involuntarily, before she forced them back down. “Next time you get like this you need to call me, okay? I’ll help you through it, just like this.”
“I will, I will. Your fingers feel so good on my clit, Baran.”
“I know. Just keep going, you’re doing so well. I wish I could taste you right now. I’d lay you down on that bed, sink between your legs. Would you like that? My tongue inside you?”
“Fuck, yes, please,” Baran could hear Trinity moving faster as she chased the pleasure Baran was describing. “I need you.”
Baran moaned, pressing more firmly against herself. “Can you go inside for me?”
There was a pause and then, “Sorry, I nodded. Yes, how many?”
The question made Baran’s heart race. She was so good at following direction, asking like Baran was in control here, just like she would be if they could ever actually do this. “Start with one.”
Trinity let out a tiny moan as she complied and Baran snatched it and stored it away somewhere deep inside, just like every other precious noise she’d drawn out of Trinity so far. Baran moved her own hand lower, finally underneath her underwear, circling her clit gently and trying not to get ahead of herself. Her body seemed to have other ideas, heat already coiling low in her belly.
Trinity asked, “Are you touching yourself too? Please say yes Baran, I need to know I’m not the only one losing my fucking mind.”
“Yes,” Baran soothed immediately. “You make such pretty noises, Trinity. You’ve been making me so wet hearing you be good for me.”
Trinity whimpered.
Baran had to still her hand to stave off the rush of arousal at the sound. She closed her eyes and tried to remember how to breathe.
“Baran… I’m close, please, can I..?”
It was the most beautiful question Baran had ever heard. She gasped as her own hand started moving again. She didn’t need air anyway. Not when Trinity was asking permission to come.
“Baran, please, please, I-“ Trinity’s voice was desperate, high-pitched and starting to get frantic.
“Yes, of course you can, come for me, that’s it.”
Trinity came the moment Baran granted permission, yelling like it had been ripped out of her. Baran’s hips thrust up into her dripping fingers, sliding over her clit, and she followed after Trinity’s shout. She moaned as she spilled into her underwear, pleasure being wrung out of her again and again with every gasp she heard through the phone.
Eventually Baran sagged back against the bed and caught her breath.
Her post-orgasm clarity arrived before her skin had even cooled. The bliss that had filled her bones moments ago was replaced by a creeping guilt, cold and sharp as it spread along her skin. She sat up on the bed, feeling like she’d been doused in cold water.
What had she been thinking? This shouldn’t have happened. She knew better. She’d put them both in a situation that was a threat to their careers. Trinity was her subordinate for God’s sake.
Trinity’s voice broke through the haze. She was calling Baran’s name. From her tone it wasn’t the first time.
Baran brought the phone up to her ear.
“Trinity.”
“Baran. Are you okay?”
“We shouldn’t have done that.”
“Why not? I enjoyed it, I heard you, I know you did too. This doesn’t have to become some terrible thing.”
Baran pressed the heel of her hand to her brow. “Whether I enjoyed it or not-“
“You did. Don’t try and gaslight me into thinking this was all on me.”
“I’m not saying that. I’m aware that this was both of us. I’m just… this was reckless.”
Trinity let out an annoyed huff. “We stuck by your rules.”
Baran sighed. The thing was, Trinity wasn’t wrong. The rules were there to protect them both but if Baran was being honest with herself, she couldn’t remember the last time she’d let herself feel as good as she did with Trinity just now. They were both consenting adults. The rules hadn’t been broken.
She recalled the sweet sounds Trinity had made. The conflict inside her quietened at the memory.
Baran held the phone closer to her ear. The silence stretched. Trinity hadn’t hung up, which said more than anything her words could have. Baran was not unaware of Trinity’s habit of shutting people out when she was hurt.
“You’re right.” Baran said. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have reacted like that. If you couldn’t tell, this isn’t something I usually do.”
The relief in Trinity’s voice was palpable, even as she tried to put on a front. “What, you’re not having phone-sex with all your residents?”
Baran smiled despite herself, shaking her head. “Trinity.”
“I knew I was your favourite. Don’t worry, I won’t tell Mel.”
“Trinity.” Baran tried to sound firm. “I’m serious. This was…nice.” She ignored the somewhat affronted scoff she heard at her choice of adjective. “I’m glad we stuck to the rules. And I don’t regret doing this.”
The moment hung between them, brief and silent, but warm. Trinity said, “Yeah. I don’t regret it either.”
“Good.”
“Good.” Trinity shuffled, back to fidgeting as the moment stretched. “And what you said, about calling you next time?”
“Hmm.”
“Did you mean it?”
Were they going to do this again? Baran knew what the answer should be. She also knew the answer she was going to give.
“Yes. I meant it.”
“Oh. Well, that might be a problem.”
Something heavy dropped onto Baran’s chest. She tried to keep her voice steady as she asked, “Why?”
“Because you said to call if I ever get turned on like this again. But this is what happens every time I see you at work.”
The tension released from Baran’s body as quickly as it came. She laughed. “Well, that sounds very challenging for you. Good luck with that, Dr Santos.”
Trinity’s laugh echoed hers down the phone. “Gee, thanks boss.”
“Goodnight, Trinity.”
“Goodnight, Baran.”
Baran expected things to change at work, for something to shift; an imbalance that had them teetering wildly across the ED floor, obvious and unsafe. Instead the floor remained even and sure beneath their feet. They continued to work well together, as they had for the last few months Baran had been at PTMC. Baran asked for an update on a patient, and Trinity reeled off vitals and lab reports like she hadn’t heard Baran orgasm down the phone. Trinity asked for another set of eyes on a difficult case and Baran worked alongside her without slipping on the fact she knew Trinity asked for permission to come.
Patients were seen and treated, and Dr Al-Hashimi and Dr Santos worked seamlessly to make that happen.
The only noticeable difference at work were the looks that lingered a second too long to be professional. The way Trinity’s lips tugged up at the sides, gone in an instant, when she caught Baran’s breath hitch watching Trinity’s hands. The way Trinity had to gulp and look away when Baran said (unintentionally on Baran’s part) “keep going, just like that” when supervising a chest tube.
From the outside they were colleagues. Professional, maybe with some unnamed tension, but clearly both too locked in for anything to come from it. They still text regularly, both at work and off the clock.
Outside of work was a different story. It had only taken a week for Trinity to call again and this time it was Baran who listened to Trinity describe how she wanted to fuck her pressed up against the storage shelves at work. Baran had come twice, imaging the scene Trinity had described. Baran repaid in kind during the next phone call when she detailed exactly how she’d take Trinity apart with her tongue.
By the fifth time it was Baran who called first. She’d been pent up since she’d seen Trinity fireman-carry an unconscious patient through the ambulance bay. She’d admonished her at the time, citing work-place injury, and manual handling training, and OSHA. Then she’d dialled Trinity’s number the moment she stepped through her front door, not even making it past the couch before she was coming apart to the image of those arms holding her up as Trinity fucked into her.
The rules were never broken. No kissing. No touching below the waist.
Baran was starting to think that the rules were going to kill her.
She was certain that they would when she walked into the PTMC annual charity gala to see Trinity Santos dressed in a tailored emerald green suit, black shirt unbuttoned low enough to be bordering on unprofessional, tie loosely tied around her neck.
Baran took a deep steadying breath. She walked past Trinity, who was stood chatting with Dennis and Samira, to reach Dana and Jack hovering near the back. She greeted them as naturally as she could, complimenting their attire and sliding into conversation with only part of her brain functioning.
She managed a few rounds of small-talk, flitting between colleagues and hospital benefactors, trying her best to put on a winning smile and not look in the direction of her resident. By the time she made it through yet another donor’s terrible yacht story she knew she needed to regroup. She excused herself and headed to the back of the venue.
The bathroom was empty, except for a very familiar face.
She should have known Trinity would be in here. She seemed to be trying to compose herself, both hands on the sink, breathing deeply. She looked up when Baran walked in and she straightened, eyes wide.
“Baran.”
“Sorry, I didn’t realise you were in here. I can go.”
“I don’t want you to go.”
Baran’s heels felt glued to the floor, her whole body frozen under the weight of Trinity’s gaze. “Maybe that’s exactly why I should.”
Trinity held her eyes, like she knew precisely what was keeping Baran from walking back out the door. She gulped and gestured to Baran’s red dress, “You look stunning.”
“Thank you.”
The silence stretched and the only thing Baran could think to say was what she had been on her mind since the moment she arrived at the gala.
“You look beautiful tonight, Trinity.”
She wanted to kiss her. She wanted to slide her hands under that half-open shirt and feel the soft skin beneath, touch those piercings that had plagued her mind ever since she’d found out about them. She wanted to drag her down by that ridiculous tie and crash their lips together, professionalism be damned.
At least Baran didn’t seem alone in her desire. Trinity was staring at her mouth, then down the long line of Baran’s dress, then back at her lips again. She seemed torn, her own war raging inside of her.
Baran didn’t know which side she wanted to win.
Eventually Trinity seemed to come to a decision. She pushed open the largest stall at the end, pulling Baran into it with her and shutting the door. Blindsided Baran let herself be pulled along. Trinity dropped her hand the moment the door was closed and Baran felt her heart thump angrily at the loss.
Trinity turned around, stepping closer until Baran’s back hit the expensive tile. Her head was spinning, desire warring with the need to stay within these boundaries they’d been set.
Baran said, “I can call you later, you know the rules, we can’t-“
Trinity cut her off with an eye-roll. “Baran, I know the rules.”
“Then what are you doing?”
“Following them.” Trinity brought her hands up, wiggling her fingers as if to show how much they were not touching Baran right now. She leaned closer, bringing her leg between Baran’s, pressing slowly further in until her thigh was slotted up against Baran’s centre.
Baran gasped at the touch. The difference between her own hand and Trinity’s real, warm body was immeasurable. She wasn’t even pressing hard but the feeling of her there was causing wetness to pool rapidly between her legs.
Trinity placed one palm flat against the tile besides Baran’s head. She leaned close, lips hovering next to Baran’s ear. “Do you want me to stop?”
“I think if you did I might combust.”
Baran felt Trinity’s breath on her neck as she smiled. “Good answer.”
Trinity leaned back slightly, enough for Baran to see the green of her irises recede behind dilated pupils. She could see each shallow breath, every flick of Trinity’s eyes to her mouth, naked with hunger.
This was so much better than a phone call. Heat rushed from Baran’s head and the world suddenly felt unstable. She reached to steady herself on Trinity’s shoulder. She realised her mistake just before she touched her, instead grabbing the tie and wrapping it around her fist. She clutched hard, tugging once for balance.
The air left Trinity’s lungs in a rush, before heaving back in.
Baran’s eyes widened at the reaction. Trinity ducked her head, trying to hide, but the blush spreading up her neck was enough of a tell.
Experimentally she gave another tug, this one sharper and more precise. The arm holding Trinity up buckled for a moment and she almost face-planted right into Baran’s chest before she caught herself.
“Oh.” Baran whispered. “Oh, that’s interesting.”
“Shut up. It’s not interesting.”
Baran grinned at her, delighted. “You want me to do it again, sweetheart?”
Trinity tried to glare at her, but the way her lips parted and her arm trembled slightly next to Baran’s head gave her away entirely. Before Baran could tug on the tie again Trinity tried a different tactic.
She pressed her thigh in closer, quads tightening beneath Baran's cunt.
Baran moaned.
Trinity whispered, “You’re gonna have to be quieter than this.”
Baran knew that. Trinity had just taken her by surprise. She brought her free hand up to press against the wall behind her, turning her face into shoulder to muffle the sound. Her hips rocked against Trinity’s thigh, slow at first, trying to find a rhythm.
The dress was restricting how much she could move, so she released the tie to pull the hem up, pushing the silk around her hips. The moment she settled back down onto Trinity’s thigh she felt the difference of only her underwear now separating her from the fabric of Trinity’s slacks. She sighed in relief.
Trinity’s eyes widened. She was staring at the lace, once light blue now almost navy with evidence of Baran’s arousal, dragging along the meat of her thigh.
“Fuck, Baran.”
Baran grasped Trinity’s tie again, using the leverage to help her grind against Trinity’s leg. The friction was incredible, sliding against her clit firm and undeniable. She sucked in a breath, inhaling the woody scent of Trinity’s perfume. Something cedar and smoky and devastating to Baran’s psyche.
She could feel herself getting close already, undone by Trinity’s physical presence long before they’d entered the bathroom. She pressed her face into her bicep, wishing it was Trinity’s on the other side. She kept grinding, cresting higher with every movement.
Trinity panted with the exertion of holding her leg in place, watching Baran ride her thigh with a wrecked expression. When Baran’s breath started to catch in a way Trinity’s recognised from their phone calls she leaned forwards, breath hot against her neck, still not quite touching, and begged, “Come for me, Baran, please, need to see you.”
Baran sunk her teeth into her bicep to stop herself from crying out as she came. She thrust down, rocking through the waves of her orgasm, smearing herself along Trinity’s leg.
She let her arm fall back down when she finally descended, panting and loose-limbed. She let go of Trinity’s tie as Trinity removed her thigh, letting her alight fully to the floor. She pulled her dress back down.
Trinity looked she was the one who just came untouched. She stared at Baran, mouth slack and eyes hazy. She swallowed, and said, “Even more beautiful than I imagined.”
Baran felt a blush rising in her cheeks at how earnest Trinity sounded, which was ridiculous considering what they’d just done. She felt the overwhelming urge to cup Trinity’s face, rub her thumb over that dimple in her cheek. She glanced down at Trinity’s mouth.
The bathroom door slammed open. Voices she didn’t recognise burst through, chatting loudly in a way that told of one too many drinks from the open bar.
Trinity stepped back like she’d been burned. The distance between them was suddenly cavernous.
“I should-“
“You should-“
They both stopped. Baran bit her lip. Trinity nodded at her to continue.
“I should go back out there. Don’t want anyone to wonder where I am.” She kept her voice low, conscious of the strangers outside.
“Yeah, yep, I’ll leave in a few minutes. Catch you up.”
“Sure. Yes, I’ll see you out there.”
“Okay.”
“Okay.”
Baran stalled, feeling wrong-footed. She took a breath, and with one last look at Trinity she opened the stall door and went back to the gala.
