Chapter Text
It has been three weeks since jabber moved. In that time, a few.. developments had occurred. Corvus had apparently taken an interest in Jabber's jinki returned and with books in hand. He said that the metal is was made out of was very hard to find down here- but he'd found a book all about where these metals come from. Tamsy head tagged along as Corvus' safety insurance. Not as if boss needed it, but still.
Zanka spent more time in his room. Sometimes when the door is open, Enjin peaks through and catches him in a trance, devotedly polishing assiststaff, muttering.
Riyo has been more and less the same, only coming to take a peak at Jabber's limp body everyday, probably keeping watch, hoping he doesn't wake up and go ballistic again.
Rudo has been so on edge, you can't even tap him on the shoulder without warning. He might just turn around and punt you. Everyone learned that the hard way.
Eisha, bless her heart, has been spending more and more time than ever with this dude. Of course, it is her duty to nurse him back to sufficient levels of health, but she speaks to him daily, even if its just scientific nonsense that only people like her and jabber could understand. Enjin recalls her coming up to him and asking what Jabber's jinki does. A couple hours after, he caught her talking over a sleepy boy about chemical compound and shit like that. It would have been heartwarming, the chare shes putting into this boy, but nobody is really sure if they want this to be a potential friendship when he wakes up.
Today, Enjin was tasked with interviewing Eisha on Jabber's medical condition and send it back to Corvus. Reason being, Corvus was interested into meeting with Jabber for some reason, and wanted him awake as soon as possible.
All he could hope for, was a peaceful, non-eventful, short interview and he should be on his way. Sliding the door to medical open, he took a deep breathe, ready to get his over with.
he surveys the area, pinpointing exactly where the raider is being held, cornered off from the rest of the world behind a simple door. Despite that, you can hear his heart monitor so loudly. never one to be bothered, he slunk his way to the lithe girl already waiting at attention.
"So, little miss Eisha. Ready for the interview?" He slid to sit on one of two chairs opposite to each other at a table Eisha set up for the assessment. Eisha nods, looking weirdly determined.
"Before we start, please put these on," she gestured to scrubs laid on a table in the corner, "with these and wear gloves. This room requires constant sterilization," she whispered. He did exactly that, and sat back down to continue his task. She explained that she needs to be near by to her patient so if anything, she could rush to treat him.
Enjin greatly respects her commitment. He tunes out the faint 'beep' of the heart monitor.
Enjin glanced over the script, not really minding the questions, and just hoping she'd give simple enough answers so there wouldn't be a need to dig deeper and write all that medical technicalities and spells and other doctorly things. The questions were generic enough, and probably what anyone would ask.
He cleared his throat, " So, how are his vitals? Gimme the deets," he slung an arm over his chair and fixed his hand holding the pen to hover over the clipboard he had to bring.
"Everything is much lower than it should be as result of the poisons in his system. even with an iv bag, its taking a lot out of his body to recover. In addition to all the other harm his body has suffered, it could take him a long time to recover enough to wake up, and even longer to heal at a regular pace,"
"Noted. What exactly is he being treated for?" They got the gist of it when she stammered through it, however, Boss needs specifics.
"Malnutrition, severe poisoning, withdrawal, a fever, severe damages to his radius and fibula, and severe to moderate punctures, bruising and lacerations on his body."
"Ho, this boy's got a whole heap of issues doesn't he?" Enjin mused, scribbling away.
"so, you've done his labs right? Any concerning feedback about 'em?"
"I actually sent his labs off for another test. His results are very concerning- but also somewhat erratic. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what is happening in his blood,"
"Terrific," Enjin nods.
"Is he at risk for any disease?" Enjin shrugs
"Yes."
"Okayyy… whys he comatose?"
"The main reason appears that the sudden withholding on poison from his system caused him to go into a withdrawal so strong, it sent him into shock, then a comatose state. His body now seems to be focused on repairing itself while he's in this state, draining all his energy and bodily resources to do that," she paused.
"I've never seen someones body so desperate to live," she quietly added.
".." Enjin stared at her for a few seconds. Pen scraping against paper.
The beep in the heart monitor sounds especially loud, almost like it's slowing down-
The table shakes, the room glows red and a siren goes off as Eisha rushes to her feet, forgetting all about this silly little interview.
"I get it kid."
He didn't know if he was speaking about Eisha or Jabber. At that instant, he'd left, while people who volunteer as medical assistance, filed into the room. Determining he'd gotten enough research, he left the room and made his way to the Corvus' office.
As Enjin arrived at the open door, he noted Corvus reading one of the books he brought back from his trip out.
“Boos, here to drop this off,” Enjin waved the clipboard in his hand.
”Enjin,” Corvus spoke.
have you heard of God?”
