AUTHORS NOTE PLEASE READ <3

Alright heathens here's what's up!

I'll start this with thank you guys for how many kind comments I've been getting. I've not responded to most in a while but I do read them all and appreciate them <3 Which leads me into the next thing.

Please stop asking about updates in the comment section.

I love y'all, I'm not mad at anyone and I am flattered that people want more of the story. It is by no means an insult to get asked about them. But it is a lot of pressure. I know no one is thinking, "hey ya know what I wanna do today? Stress out a writer of the story I like" but that's what it kind of does. There's no way for you guys to know any of this without me explaining. So here's me explaining.

I love and appreciate that people want more of the story and again I'm not mad at anyone for asking for updates but the asks make me really anxious. I want to be able to post more and it kills me that I can't do the consistent updates like I had for the literal first 25 chapters. The problem is I am one of those people who heavily avoids stress and when I get some of those comments, it makes me want to avoid looking at Spiteful to continue working on it. It puts pressure on me when I'm not able to meet that request. I can't write faster and I can't always post. So I'm asking people to respect me and be patient.

But what about updates?

Ugh. It stresses me even when I ask me, but people are curious soooo here it goes.

They'll happen when they happen ^_^ (I can sense someone out there getting mad at that answer). Nah, for real though, I have no idea when I'll update again and like I said, I am very anxious that I don't have a better answer. But I just can't predict that. Here's what I can say though. The story is not abandoned, I've literally worked on it last night. It will be finished because I'm stubborn. And when I start updating again, they will be consistent updates because I'm not starting back updates until I finish the story.

Last thing! Fun fact, I don't like when authors do updates like this one but I get no story. I'll get excited and then be like "aww not an actual update". Of course, I get and respect why authors do this but I will not deny it's a little disappointing. That's part of why I hesitated to do something like this even though it had to be done. But yeah, it's not my favorite thing in the world to happen so I'm not doing that. I thought a nice compromise be to give you guys a preview of next chapter. Like always respect authors who just write author updates without the extra. But I'm a goofball and don't roll that way. If any of you know my Tumblr, you've probably already seen this, but for those who haven't, here's the first part of chapter 26 for you (it's unedited).

Chapter 26 Preview: Not Good Enough

Bakugou had gained two new stalkers and this time he couldn’t give a fuck.

He didn’t know if it had started because Hatsume tore into the Kaminari’s dumbass electric mongrel of a self, or if Kirishima had somehow started a movement to stalk Bakugou, but both Kirishima and Kaminari were being annoying fucks. Neither were anywhere near the green creeps level of annoying but Bakugou doubted anyone could be nearly that bad. But it was strange.

Kirishima had started giving Midoriya odd glances and when Kaminari looked away from Bakugou, he’d side eye Kirishima. Bakugou had no idea what all of that meant but the weirder things got, the less he gave a fuck.

Let the assholes all be weird. Bakugou didn’t have the patience for it.

So after he had noticed the new trend in class, he gave them a snarl then resolutely ignored them for the rest of the day. Either they would say something or they would not. Bakugou wouldn’t waste his time caring.

In the end, Kirishima was the one to finally say something. It figured. Kirishima had been giving him pathetic looks since Parents Day. Bakugou might not get what Kaminari’s reasoning for staring at him were but Kirishima? Kirishima was obvious. And Bakugou resented him for that. Kirishima had no rights.

And yet Kirishima had been the one to knock at Bakugou’s dorm room door that evening. Actually, Kirishima didn’t knock. He used that damn bell system Aizawa had insisted on and Bakugou never quite took down.

Fuck that.

“What the hell do you want?” Bakugou wasn’t surprised to see him there. He was almost surprised Kirishima hadn’t come by earlier. He certainly seemed as if he had wanted to. Even if Bakugou didn’t want to hear what he had to say.

“Can we just talk man?” Kirishima asked.

Bakugou hated him for asking that.

“Fuck off.” Bakugou went to slam the door but not before Kirishima’s voice stopped him.

“Please?” Kirishima’s voice broke with the word and that was what made Bakugou pause. “Just this once, man, then you can keep hating me. But just- Please?”

Fuck.

Fuck that.

Bakugou didn’t want to talk. And the fact that Kirishima only wanted to talk to Bakugou after he’d seen the hag hit him? It was messed up. It was so messed up and Bakugou hated Kirishima for asking that. Because she changed nothing.

Bakugou’s mother changed nothing.

He was the same the day before Parents Day as he was the day after. Everyone had already decided what they thought of that and wanting to talk? After all the time that had passed, talking felt like bullshit. The class hated him for him, and he wouldn’t accept them changing their minds for his mother of all people.

Kirishima didn’t get that though. Kirishima had just seen Bakugou become some sort of victim in his eyes and apparently was overcome in some sort of guilt haze. Bakugou hated the pity and didn’t owe Kirishima a thing. The other certainly hadn’t cared about Bakugou before he had seen his mother hit him.

And yet it was Kirishima.

It was Kirishima.

He didn’t want to talk to Kirishima. It was one of the last things he wanted; he hated Kirishima. Because out of everyone in his dumbass classroom —hell out of everyone in the entire school—Kirishima was the one person who wasn’t supposed to hate Bakugou. He was the one person who Bakugou thought might stay by his side.

But Kirishima didn’t.

It wasn’t even as if Bakugou was surprised. But they were friends. Even if Kirishima thought Bakugou was horrible for the shit he had done to Deku, Bakugou still thought he'd at least ask him about it. And asking ‘is it true?’ did not fucking count. What the hell kind of a question was that anyway?

Despite everything Bakugou still had to fucking talk to him. He had to know what Kirishima was going to say. Even if it didn’t change anything, Bakugou just needed to know because after he could just let it all go.

Notes:

If y'all only read the preview and not my note at the beginning, back yourself up and read it. I'm onto you!

Notes:

I'll try to update this once a week. If there's any mistakes or any tags that should be added, let me know!

If you liked it, please leave a comment. I usually respond to everything and they're very appreciated. Otherwise, there's much more to come and I hope you enjoy.

Ahhh one more thing, I end up posting extra stuff for Spite on my Tumblr. I'll try and make a master post for that some time but here's that link: https://lawgrain.tumblr.com

None of what's on there is needed to understand the story and my Tumblr is in no way devoted to any subject. It's just there if you're curious.
