Summary
You kick your legs out, letting them fall heavily on your duvet. Rather than getting to it, though, she looks around the room for a moment before she sets for your desk. She picks up one of your sewing rules, a smaller wooden replica of the one you have at the atelier, and your legs shut closed of their own accord. She arches a brow before snapping it against your thigh.
‘Be good now, or would you rather I also tie them to the headboard?’

Summary
Rosa DiAngelo is a crime family princess, a rich powerful woman with everything handed to her on a silver platter. Scarred metaphorically and literally from her past, she's trapped in the mindset that she is incapable of feeling love.
Avery is a victim of circumstance, a poor unfortunate soul who finds herself with an electric collar locked around her throat, forced to serve as a slave to her Mistress.
Now with Avery under her thrall, Rosa must break her in and train her new mutt all by herself.
Can the cold, heartless, uncaring Rosa heal her scars and find love again? Can a misbehaving mutt like Avery learn to be a proper handmaiden? And do the loveless queen and the unlucky mongrel even deserve to be together at all?
Troubled pasts, previous relationships, heartbreak, betrayal, religious trauma, and forbidden romance.
It doesn't matter whether it's slavery or the mafia; No one is ever truly free.

Summary
Sufficed to say, I was more than a little disappointed that Jacqueline Carey didn’t give Melisande the chance to make good on her promise to imprison Phèdre in Kushiel’s Chosen and bend her to her will. So I’m making do with my own musings on how this could have gone.
I am starting off in the middle of chapter 45, right before Joscelin attempts to spring Phèdre out of the secret prison at La Dolorosa. In this alternative universe, Joscelin and Ti-Phillipe delay this plan by one day, allowing time for Phèdre to be escorted to The Little Court first.
This is a work in progress, and while I do have an outline for the whole plot, I am nowhere near finished yet. Phèdre and Melisande are phenomenally written characters and Kushiel’s Legacy is an all-time favorite of mine, so I am a tad intimidated at the prospect of representing them faithfully, but I hope I do them a modicum of justice.
