When he was four years old, the doctor showed Izuku and his mother the x-ray of the boy's foot. Since he only had one joint in his pinky toe, the doctor explained, there was a very high chance his quirk would manifest eventually. Year after year passed without any sign of it though, leaving Izuku to wonder if he could become a hero even without a quirk.
