Summary
He hadn’t realized it until Joel’s knife was at his throat, but Jimmy had always imagined he’d hit his Red life through some stupid accident. Now it seemed like it would either be the clock ticking over or Joel - who was looking at him like he was a decadent feast and he hadn’t eaten for days. Grian had his sword out, so there was a possibility he might steal Joel’s kill. Either way, he’d be back with his boys soon, and that was all that mattered.

Summary
When Scar wakes up to find Grian perched on the foot of his bed, he’s not surprised. Alarmed, yes. Frightened, a little bit, though he’d sooner be put in thumbscrews than admit it. But surprised? No. Not at all. There’s a certain narrative symmetry here – though Grian’s never really cared about symmetry. In his builds, maybe, sure, but certainly not in the stories he tells.
(Grian goes red, and decides to pay Scar a visit. Scar has... complicated emotions about this. Grian does not.)
