Summary
“What kind of photos?” asks Lan Zhan, her voice like a wounded animal. Guilt churns at Wei Ying’s stomach, making it hard for her to meet her girlfriend’s eyes.
“The two of you together,” replies Wen Qing, handing the iPad across the table. Wei Ying’s stomach drops further as her girlfriend flickers through each photo. “Photos of Wei Ying in various states of undress. And —” she sighs, “one photograph of you in the nude.”
Lan Zhan’s fingers trace the curve of her own spine in the photo on the iPad. It glares up at them like an accusation, a condemnation of their own stupidity.

Lan er-gege’s brows furrow. “Neither of us have any reason to participate in such activities,” he points out. The pout on his partner’s face deepens.
“But look! We’re in the company of two beautiful women who also happen to be named Wei Ying and Lan Zhan! I bet we’re looking at our reincarnated selves from the future.” He winks at Wei Ying. “Wow, I look amazing as a woman. You sure you wouldn’t want to try, Lan er-gege? With her?”
Lan er-gege purses his lips tighter, as if he doesn’t trust his other head to betray the head on his shoulders and say something completely stupid.

Lan Zhan nods back towards the couch. “There is a throw blanket there, if you are cold.”
“Lan-jiejie’s a tease,” whines Wei Ying.
“I have papers to grade,” retorts Lan Zhan, returning to them.
