Summary
“C’mon, Mo. I just need you to work with me. How about you drink this and I’ll get you a square of chocolate afterwards, does that sound good?”
Another shake of the head.
“It’s berry flavoured! It’ll be just like the raspberry Jell-O Mom makes. You love that!”
“Nuh-uh. It’s different.”
It’s that exact moment that Peter lets a quiet sigh rush out between his gritted teeth and considers - only very briefly, but still - picking up his phone and calling Pepper or Tony.
--
or, a flu-ridden Morgan crashes Peter and Ned's date night.

Summary
This can’t be real.
How can it be real?
Horrible flashes of Prague, Molten Man and Beck burn themselves into the front of his mind but Peter shakes them away. Fire isn’t something that happens to him. It can’t be. It happens to people who leave oil on the stovetop for too long, people who smoke carelessly, people whose houses have faulty wiring.
He's just meant to throw himself into these peoples’ lives for a while to save their cats, their photo albums, bring everything to safety.
It’s not meant to happen to this house, not anywhere near where Morgan or Pepper or Tony are…
Oh god.
--
or, the lake house burns down, Pepper's hurt and Peter blames himself.

Summary
“That’s infected, Peter,” Tony says shortly.
“I thought it would heal, really. I just had to-”
“You didn’t have to do anything. What you were meant to do was remember that we had an agreement - which is clearly defunct now - about you and Spider-Man. So why are you sitting on my couch with a stab wound in your side?”
--
or, Peter tries to hide a stab wound and an infection-fuelled fever is never any fun. Also, it turns out that Beck is still lurking in Peter's mind much more than anyone realised.

Summary
Tony Stark doesn’t know how to be a parent.
Over the couple of years that Peter’s been in his life, he’s picked up little bits here and there - how to be patient, calm and caring in a way that his own childhood never allowed him to learn - but that’s all been from May.
He owes everything to May Parker.
She isn’t here anymore though.
--
or, both Peter and Tony go through the five stages of grief in the wake of May Parker’s death.

Summary
Peter’s professors all seem to know Tony. Instead of calling Peter out for turning in the odd piece of homework late or getting distracted in class like they might do for anyone else, they give him pats on the back in hallways and tell him fondly that, “Tony must be so proud of you, following in his footsteps.”
Tony wouldn’t be, though. Not if he knew how much effort Peter was having to put in to keep his head above the water.
He just wants Tony to be proud of him.
He has to work harder - that’s the only way.
--
or, Peter’s college workload and anxiety makes him worry that maybe he’s not good enough for Tony.

Summary
Tony knows this time it's his fault that Peter's in the MedBay. This time it's not a patrol gone wrong, not simply a stray bullet or measly stab wound.
He should have been more careful. He never should have let FRIDAY relay anything to do with Ross while Peter was in the vicinity. He should never have accepted Peter’s weak cover story that night when he went out on patrol and never returned.
It’s been three weeks. People could have done anything to Peter in three weeks.
--
or, Tony struggles to remember that not everything is his fault when Peter’s brought home after being missing for three weeks.
