Did you ever watch this movie and think "hmmm, wouldn't it be cool if this kicked off a whole sitcom/slice-of-life series following growing up with one big supernatural secret?"

I thought so!

It picks up literally right at the end of the movie, and follows the characters over the years through high school! The story is slice of life style, with themes of friendship, family, love, growing up and finding who you are (with merpeople, of course). There are lots of ups and downs, but ultimately it's all about continuing the story with the same beats of whimsicality, fantasy, friendship, and love that make the movie so memorable.

Notes:

Trying to keep the tone as canon-compliant as possible: earnest morals, lots of heart, sometimes exaggerated characters, sometimes a bit cheesy. This is DCOM fanfic after all.

There are a few tiny cameos with some characters from Brink! and the first Princess Diaries movie because they all take place in approximately the same parts of California and have similar vibes (and a blink-and-you-miss-it one from Phantom of the Megaplex!).

Each individual work will have its own tags for what appears in that specific one - characters, relationships, warnings, etc. Overall expect a PG-13 rating (mostly for language).
