As time passes and Ron grows he realizes that his first coherent thoughts about Voldemort were right:

This is made even more relevant by the fact that even now, over two years since the bloody tosser’s death, he is causing problems.
But you know what? It’s going to be fine. There’s a plan:
1. Let Hermione handle all the data gathering and calculations.
2. Help if asked but don’t volunteer unnecessarily.
3. Avoid talking about the way their magic pulls them together.
4. Provide food, company and much-needed distractions/breaks.
5. Get sucked into doing a ritual that sends them 13 years in the past and be forced to deal with the bond and primordial beings.Yeah, it’s easy to see which step wasn’t on the list initially. Guess what else wasn’t on the list? Actually acknowledging the fact that shadows seem to warp in his presence.
