Summary
After six years of being in the foster care system, fourteen year old Peter Parker somehow managed to win an opportunity to meet his hero. The one and only Tony Stark.
“Not much of a talker is he,” Tony casually stated, making Peter stomach churn with unease. He had no idea where the man was going with his assessment and wasn’t really sure how to properly defend himself. Thankfully, he didn’t have to.“Peter has what they call selective mutism,” the social worker replied. “So, no. I suppose he’s not much of a talker.”
Tony leaned back in his chair and arched his eyebrow. “He doesn’t talk at all?”
“I’ve been his social worker for six years and I’ve never heard more than a peep out of him,” the social worker said, this time, turning towards Peter to offer him a reassuring smile.

Summary
After coming to live with Tony and Pepper, Peter begins to have nightmares. His therapist tells him it's okay; that nightmares are a perfectly normal part of the healing process. Peter, however, is dubious. He's enhanced. He's supposed to be a superhero. And that's exactly why he doesn't want Tony to know about them. But the worst part of the constant nightmares is the way they make him feel like he shouldn't put on the new Spider-Suit. In fact, he's starting to wonder if he should have ever become Spider-Man at all.

Summary
While waiting in the carpool line, Tony receives an email for Peter's Reading and Comprehension teacher. And it's not a pleasant one. It's confusing. The teacher is claiming that Peter, his Peter has been arguing with her, refusing to do his work, and is failing the class as a result. It doesn't make any sense and when he asks Peter about it, he doesn't get any answers.
It takes some time and a lot of patcience to get Peter to talk about his side of the story. But once he does, Tony and Pepper are there to help him, support him, and make everything right.

After being assigned a writing exercise Peter's not prepared to complete, Tony and Pepper advocate for him to receive reasonable and appropriate educational accommodations.

Peter manages to clumsily injure himself on patrol. The embarrassing trip to the medical floor reminds Tony that they'd once agreed on hand-to-hand combat and first-aid training. The moment Peter is deemed healthy, Tony takes Peter to the gym for some fundamental boxing lessons with Happy. Other than being completely uninteresting, Peter is okay with it until he realizes the constrictive gloves remove his ability to communicate.

Peter Parker is in a hurry to get out of the house. He's running late and he knows how much Happy hates waiting. As he darts to the door, Tony playfully requests a hug. With a faint smile and an exaggerated huff, Peter dives in. The actual hug doesn't last more than a second. But as he retreated, the words, “Bye. Love you," slipped right out of his mouth. Internal Panic ensued, leading him to take the next most logical step. With Tony calling after him, he turned on his heels and ran.

an adoption date has been set, leaving Peter with a lot of mixed emotions. He has a lot to work through in the time leading up to what will become one of his life's most significant moments.
Slowly, Peter read the letter. It was a court date for his adoption to be finalized. In less than two weeks time, his last name would shift to the middle and a new surname tacked to the end. He’d be Peter Benjamin Parker Stark. A frisson of excitement zipped up his spine. At the same time, a twinge of sadness made itself at home in his chest. The adoption would make Tony and Pepper his official forever family. At the same time, the connotation of the proceeding wasn’t lost on him. It was a vivid reminder of his first family, all of whom were laid to rest: his mother, his father, his aunt and uncle. His eyes watered without his permission; a bizarre combination of elation and grief.
