It all started as a gathering of existence's most astonishing fighters, all prepared to win the title of greatest in the first ever Multiversal Tournament. And after a winner was decided after a series of intensely varied fights, everyone's lives went on as normal until the second tournament rolled around one year later... followed by the arrival of all but certain death in the form of a cosmic essence, ready to snuff out the very existence of any and all present beings. The contestants will have their chance to fight back and their fates will unravel in front of them, but before the future can happen it's important to know the path leading up to it. This is that path - a summary of all the events that has happened so far. A way for new onlookers to catch up without needing to go all the way to the beginning, and a way for veteran onlookers to remember former events. The condensed story of the Multiversal Tournament, the lives of its contestants in the interim and the tale of the Multiversal Tag-Team Tournament that followed.

Things had started so innocently. The Multiversal Tournament, a fighting contest where the 16 participants hailed from across several different universes, had yielded an ultimate champion. The contestants had gone on as always until the following year, when they had returned for the brand new Tag-Team Tournament. But right as it had ended, so had their time. An eldritch cosmic force that erased reality itself in its path, the living void... the Absence had come. Only the scattered contestants can even stand a chance to stop it, and in the progress embark on the grandest adventure across all of space. Or be wiped out trying...
