Summary
In the bustling port city of Kuo Kuana, Blake Belladonna stakes her claim on the meandering politics of Menagerie with an ambitious scheme: An intercontinental trade network with the new Kingdom of Vale. But Vale is not a peaceful place, and though Yang Xiao Long, Blake's counterpart, tries to put their new deal together other forces move backstage.
In the north of Vale, Cinder Fall establishes a new base of power that threatens the fragile stability of the entire continent. In Argus, the Kingdom of Atlas asserts itself as the rulers of the port city and soon the rest of Mistral. In Atlas itself, Winter Schnee is given a task to watch over political radical Robyn Hill.

Summary
Far across the sea and fleeing from home, Blake Belladonna finds herself the guest in a new land, full of customs and gods she is still trying to understand. Moreover, circumstances both in and out of her control have arranged her marriage to one Yang Xiao Long, the act of which will create the most powerful trade network in the world.
All is not well in the Kingdom of Vale and beyond, and even as the newlyweds begin to set their plan into motion, the world rises up in conspiracy against them. Cinder Fall plots vengeance for her defeat and humiliation, further destabilizing an already fractious continent. Pyrrha Nikos, the last great hero of free Argus, struggles to create a place for her people that contents her desire for vengeance against Atlas, the Kingdom that conquered her home. Winter Schnee tangles with the politics of Atlas itself, fitting into a new role as a member of the Kingsguard, the highest station of military office, and also with learning how to be a teacher to would-be knight Penny Polendina.
As the world tumbles closer to a chaotic confrontation of great powers, the players hurry to make their moves and shore up their defenses. Only time will tell who will be successful and who will be dead.Series
