Description:

Silverscars (Adar/Celebrimbor) canon divergence AU, political marriage AU. In which Celebrimbor notices that something is 'off' about Annatar and figures out his secret far earlier than Sauron expected him to. He subsequently makes the difficult decision to flee Eregion in a bid to escape and maybe, hopefully, reach and alert Lindon and Gil-Galad.

Instead, he is discovered by the 'orcs' who have gathered in the forest across the Glanduin in order to prepare for the siege, and lands himself in Adar's camp. In their attempts to negotiate a peace as well as finding a means to oppose their shared enemy in Ost-In-Edhil, the two enter a political marriage that changes the course of Arda's history - and both their lives. Suffice to say, the marriage does not stay political. And does indeed lead to the uruk and the elves to try and build an alliance against Sauron.

Follow Adar and Celebrimbor as they get to know one another better and develop unexpected feelings - and the joyous time after, which includes the planning of a belated celebration of their wedding, as well as the two of them navigating the ups and downs of married life as leaders of their people and in the aftermath of Sauron's failed ploy.

Notes:

This AU happened through a series of lucky coincidences and accidents - it initially got spawned from a silverscars graphic/edit I uploaded to tumblr; I made a last-second decision, and suggested an arranged marriage AU for the two characters in the description. The responses and interest from the TROP fandom lead me to first write and share a one-shot, then to write more "snippets", and finally write "Of Convenience" as a finished, 42k long fic in 2.5 weeks. (Still I have no idea how I managed to do that.)

I have since extended it, further edited it, and uploaded it onto AO3. And added a sequel. One of the chapters of which got so long I also uploaded it separately as another part of the 'verse. Aaand I am currently also occassionally writing random, additional bits and collecting them/grouping them together whenever I get a new idea.

This verse has since grown to over 115k words in between January and May of this year, more than I ever thought I'd write for a single AU - or in general. It has a very special place in my heart as a result. Thank you to everyone who has read, does read, or will read this series, and those who have kept me motivated even through my busiest or most anxious times with their feedback, comments, likes, kudos and words. <3 This series wouldn't exist in its current form without you. Thank you so much.
