What is the "a year in the life" challenge?

This homemade challenge is a project I started in November 2024. The goal was to write one chapter per day for an entire year. Each chapter of this story (and each subsequent story in this series) is one day in the life of Peter Parker. This will make for 365 total chapters, and twelve total works (one for each month). Each chapter strives to stay between 500-1500 words, but you will find in future months that this is limit is occasionally, willfully ignored.

What is the best way to read this series? It seems like a lot!

My recommendation? Don't binge-read. This project was designed for chapters to be read day by day. It helps with the pacing and allows you to experience events in a similar way to Peter. That being said, though... feel free to ignore me. If you want to read 20 chapters in a day, go for it. The world will not implode!

What is your upload schedule?

6pm EST. 7 days a week. 365 days a year.

What if I do not want email notifications every time you update?

I get it. An email a day would certainly drive me insane. Updates are consistent, so you do NOT need to subscribe to this work or series. If you are subscribed to me as an author and do not want daily notifications, I highly recommend unsubscribing. I won't be offended, I swear! :)

What if I don't want to see your stories at the top of my AO3 page for an entire year?

Absolutely no problem. Mute me! You can do this by simply clicking on my username, going to my profile, and pressing the "Mute" button.

How does your tagging work?

This series will rarely contain content above a T rating, although there will be some content that this heavier than others. Perhaps not in January, but throughout the rest of the year. I will tag sparingly. For possible trigger warnings, they will be included in an optional author's note (formatted similarly to this one) at the start of the chapter it pertains to.

When in canon does this story take place?

A little under a year after Endgame. Yes, I skirted canon to the side. Everybody is alive. Yippee. Don't worry, I make up for that angst in other ways.

Embedded challenges

To keep things interesting and to give me ideas, I've incorporated two mini-challenges into each month. Four times a month (the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th), the chapter revolves around a word of the day. Every 15th of the month, there is a POV shift!

Do you take chapter requests?

In general, no. At the time of posting January 1st, I am in the middle of writing July, so even if I did take a request, it wouldn't be seen for months. But if you have ideas, feel free to leave them in the comments! Maybe they'll show up eventually...
