Ventuswill's attempt at fulfilling her social needs through education is going well, she thinks. She might even be able to take a personal student and watch her live out a full human life, which is the sort of thing she's been desperate for for... oh, has it been sixteen hundred years already? How time flies. Surely, this brilliant Earthmate can be directed to do all sorts of amazing things once she's older.
"It's a big opportunity- even bigger than being accepted to the Royal Magic Academy."
The issue with majoring in rune studies is needing a good thesis project. Frey could just take one of those topics that have been iterated upon time and time again, but that's just not good enough. It's not going to impress anyone. But what could... Well. Venti's birthday is coming up, anyway. She might as well bring her a nice present.
(And then there's everyone else. They're just trying to get by.)

Frey and Forte talk over lunch in the middle of a boss fight. At that point, it had been Forte who wanted to make a habit out of the whole monster-fighting thing.
But priorities are a funny thing, in that they can shift pretty quickly. So Frey decides to ask some of her fellow newcomers to town to go on adventures with her while dealing with the minor everyday weirdness of life in Selphia.
It really shouldn't have worked out so well.

Lest didn't exactly intend to become the captain of one of the most well-known pirate ships there is. Then again, it's hard to speak on intentions when you have as many gaps in your memory as Lest and his sister do. Regardless, they were given a place to belong and to prove their worth, and Lest will be damned if he doesn't do everything in his power to return the favor tenfold.
It would just be a whole lot easier to do that if he didn't have to worry about the damn Guardian and her infuriating captain gunning them down every chance they get.

The new greenhorn captain of the Lady is definitely fun to mess with, Leon can't deny that, but this is no laughing matter. Not anymore. Leon needs answers. He had one condition to his assuming control of this crew, this ship, and he doesn't make a habit of breaking his promises. If he can make certain people squirm a little in the meanwhile, that's just a bonus.
