One of them, as we already know so far, is searching for someone - Reader, for an unseen Clara - whilst the other might know more than she realises.

It’s a good thing Leighton knows how to do this, where Reader is intimately concerned.

After Reader faces off her first (or is it her first?) encounter with one of her monsters - a gnarly and warped formation of a German Shepard with gangly claws, she finds herself still lingering between the boundaries of consciousness, and subconsciousness.
She can’t deny it leads only to more confusion and self-doubt when she is thrown back into some distant, but too-close flashback again like that of another life entirely, but in the same strange hazy setting of Silent Hill itself, as it is now.
The street still feels too cold beneath her; the air quality rank, too warm, and too thick around her like she’s stuck in her own personal Hell.
That is, until she hears Angela’s name for the first time (or again), escaping her own lips somehow.

She still blames herself for what happened to her.
No matter how much Cal might try and reassure her that he doesn’t blame her, despite not knowing about the situation, and saying that Reader wouldn’t blame her either - as he can see how important they are to each other, no matter the difficulties - she still feels like she was the one to land Reader in here, despite Reader being the one to decide she wants to disappear, in the first place, thinking it would be good for everyone around her somehow.
When Reader finally seems to wake up, Cal is disheartened by the way she reacts to him, and Regina has to try and will the girl’s want to live again.

As part of a reimagined perspective of the original idea I had, I decided to change this up a little -
Reader finds herself back at the start of the town; the top of the trail, and she’s more apprehensive than she’s ever been before.
She’s still searching for Clara, an old friend of her’s, after the girl had sent her a voicemail, saying she’d be here.
Reader hoped it meant somehow that she could still be alive, considering the voicemail had come a few days after she’d thought Clara had gone.
There was just so much she wanted to say to her; so little time, but-..
Well, she knew she couldn’t give up, not when there felt like there was much at stake already.
So when she finally meets Angela again, and in their first interaction neglects to find out her name, it terrifies Reader to think that her own world wants to meet the other’s already.

Continuing on from where we left off in the last main instalment - It Was Hard/Episodic Fire - and everything seems relatively quite peaceful; Reader admires Regina as the girl carries her out to Cal’s car - everything that only makes her fall for the girl even more, somehow, aside from everything about her, of course, since her change late last year.
Since that night, though, Regina notices one of Reader’s own negative changes, new as it was; Reader had become a lot more subdued, and she fears it’s because of her, but Reader could never blame Regina for anything.
She fears it’s her own mindset that’s creating the distance between them, only to be intensified when she overhears an unintentionally harmful conversation between Regina and her Uncle, Cal.

Continuing from where the pairing left off, Reader is surprised to find Angela can now see the dog-like monster she’d had to kill earlier.
She is also surprised to find Angela had been the one to supply her the knife to do it, seeing as the girl could tell she’d been in trouble before she’d decided to try and help the figure.
