The resulting effect? Almost-stampedes, a feat of ring consumption, and formal ceremonies that could've gone more peacefully... but where's the fun in that?
Alternatively: Percy and Annabeth discover that maybe the reason why most demigods don't live long enough to get married is because pre-wedding stress (aka monsters breathing down your neck) got to them first.
