"In the common areas, she had come to know him as the silent man. Wearing all black, often looking cold and lonely, with no one to speak to. On occasion, he'd be sitting alone with a bouquet, picking at all the individual petals, examining them as if they held some secret.
Jane had liked sitting with him. While in the asylum, she hardly spoke either, and many of their interactions had no words at all, but they had shared many glances. Once, he had chosen a flower to hand to her, which she had intended to keep. However, she found it gone from her nightstand- housekeeping must have taken it. It was a small white flower."
