O velho celeiro abandonado ficava atrás do terreno, tão longe que você não conseguiria ouvir mais a voz de Pa conversando alto com o gado ou de Ma fofocando com as vizinhas enquanto trocava alguns ovos a mais por leite fresco, nem mesmo o mugido das vacas e o cacarejar das galinhas mal humoradas. Era tão silencioso que o pequeno Clark sentia que conseguia ouvir os próprios batimentos cardíacos. Com sua tinta desbotada pelo tempo, buracos por ali e por aqui em sua estrutura alta e a vegetação abraçando a estrutura antiga faziam a coragem do pequeno garotinho vacilar — só um pouquinho.
— Eu sou corajoso. — Ele resmungou para o sentimento, empurrando o portão enferrujado que se estendia muito acima de sua altura.
O portão soltou um gemido baixo e arrastado em protesto, o som grave invadiu tudo que antes era tomado pelo silêncio até o momento em que se abriu completamente, fazendo a luz do Sol adentrar a escuridão total. Em passos calmos e incertos ele caminhou até o fim do cômodo até estar de frente a um ser tão escuro quanto a penumbra da noite, seus olhos azuis escuros e afiados lembraram a de um gato selvagem. Seu pescoço se esticou e seu corpo eriçado parecia congelado.
Clark o encarou de volta.

With its eyes closed, the statue seemed to weep silently with grief, its deceptively gentle expression breaking at the twisted corners into one of genuine pain hidden beneath such beautiful, weather-soiled robes - and yet the glow around it was undeniable, as if it must exist on a plane much greater than the filthy earth. For a moment Hong-er stopped.
And in his heart he desperately worshipped a god.
"May this be the one who takes my soul" Such a simple, bitter, desperate wish.

De olhos fechados a estátua parecia chorar silenciosamente com pesar, sua expressão enganosamente suave se quebrava aos cantos retorcidos em uma expressão de dor genuína escondida sob as vestes tão bonitas e sujas pelo tempo ― e apesar de tudo o brilho em volta dela era inegável, como aquilo devesse existir em um plano muito maior do que a terra imunda. Por um momento Hong-er parou.
E em seu coração ele adorou desesperadamente um deus.
“Que este seja aquele que levará minha alma” Um desejo tão simples, amargo, desesperado.

Summary
“Oh, are you guys talking about Jason?” said a familiar mechanized voice from across the rooftop, and the Bats spun around to spot the Red Hood casually leaning against the rooftop access door. “I miss that kid, he was a riot. Hope he’s doing alright.”
There was a moment of silence as the entire group stared at Red Hood, processing his words, and then Red Robin blurted, “Wait, you know Jason?”
“Sure,” Red Hood responded breezily, amusement written in the lines of his posture. “We got pushed into the Pit at the same time. He went a little crazy and fell off a cliff, but shit could only go up from there, am I right?”
The Bats find out that Jason Todd is alive and apparently has questionable taste in friends, if the Red Hood is any indication.
