Summary
If there was one thing Alastor could count as a certainty in his life, year after year, without fail, it was Vox.
Like clockwork, he would send a note wishing him the worst start to the new year imaginable. Hoping he'd break his back or fall into a hole and wake up in another ring of Hell, where he'd stop being such a pain in the ass to everyone. Or, at least, to Vox.
But the question was: why hadn't Vox sent him any New Year's wishes this year? It wasn't something he usually did, completely forgetting that tradition they had. No, no, Vox's absolute need to try to get his attention was extremely pathetic in its repetition. Over and over again. Alastor kept every single piece of evidence.
So... Why was it late that year?

Summary
Alastor limped forward a few steps, pausing at the sound of breaking glass from behind him. He tensed, whipping the tendril to get the dead urchin sinner off. The sinner went flying, crashing into a group of fleeing sinners and bowling them over. Most had the good sense to stay down, either dead or playing, he didn’t care. It was the ones that were still fleeing that he wanted to chase.
And then there was the screaming.
Alastor took another step forward, pausing when he really registered the sound.
Vox.

Summary
Vox spent his life certain of one regret: he never had a child.
Not because he lacked want but because he knew exactly the kind of man he was, and exactly what kind of damage that could do.Hell, improbably, gives him a chance to correct it.
What follows isn’t redemption so much as restraint: power redirected, obsession starved, a life built carefully around two girls he refuses to shape in his image but will protect at any cost. For the first time, Vox chooses staying over spectacle.
Then Alastor returns expecting attention, ownership, the old gravity to snap back into place.
Instead, he finds a man who has moved on, and a family that will not be bargained for.
Or: the one where Alastor sets out to own vox's attention and accidentally joins a family instead.
