He can’t ignore the bait any longer. Muzan is practically forcing it into his mouth at this point; nobody can fault Tanjiro for biting.
“What I did,” Muzan begins with an unnerving sort of calm, “was achieve perfection.”
Kanao fails to administer the medicine in time, but Muzan's blood fails to take proper hold as well. Escaping from the battle scene, Tanjiro is stuck dealing with Muzan's spirit and finding a way to return home to his friends and family. Thankfully, he finds a little help from his friends; living ones not included.
While they’re at it, can someone please help him get rid of Kibutsuji’s ghost? Seriously. He’s getting annoying.

Seeing how irritable he gets around humans and knowing that he barely tolerates the presence of other demons as well, he usually finds solace in Kokushibou. He would expect his lord to vent out his frustrations as soon as they reunited again, and he would be there to carefully listen to every word, nodding along with the complaints about their useless kin, the sheer stupidity of human society and how repetitive the cycle of managing multiple fake human lives eventually becomes. Kokushibou sympathised with each one of his grievances. As he looked at his master’s beautiful profile, he could only hope that he could bring him the slightest of relief."
