Of all his ridiculous ideas, snatching Melkor's crown was, beyond any doubt, the most ridiculous. Behold! Mairon the Maia, the king who never was, dim-witted enough to believe that an artefact infused with unpredictable sorcery was the ideal way of making his rule look legitimate. The time he spent with reforging the ugly thing would have been much better used with perfecting—and practising—his speech. Maybe then it would not have ended up in a debacle of epic proportions.
