“What… are you?” Calliope asks, despite already knowing the answer. She needs to hear it from Juliette herself. A monster, that’s what she is. A monster who kills and feeds on humans, a monster that knows no boundaries. A monster Calliope is trained to kill.
Juliette doesn’t answer.
Calliope takes a step forward as Juliette takes one back. The silence stretches, unspoken words hung in the air yet neither of them daring to even breathe.
“I’m not a monster.” Juliette whispers.
Or, Calliope doesn’t realise Juliette is a vampire until the silver ring on her hand burns Juliette’s.

Summary

As the kids start middle school and the teens start sophomore year, romance is in the air, and maybe a bit more.
At Danville High, Candace prepares to make a splash at homecoming and take things to the next level with Jeremy, while secretly dealing with her bully from freshman year. At the neighboring middle school, the kids face puberty head-on and struggle to express their changing feelings. Featuring celebrity guests, visitors from the future, a production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, gaming the system to prevent being isekai’d, vampires (for real this time), Ultron dropping Sokovia on Drusselstein, and charitable volunteer work. After that, who knows? Growing up is hard to do and is also a journey with no end.
