Eddie hates the library, he hates how quiet it is and how he’s always getting shushed by that librarian hag Muriel. But he hates his idiot roommate and his tendency to hog their dorm room to have loud sex with his girlfriend all night long, even more. And now he has to spend all night in the library cramming for an exam, which would be fine, if not for the fact that some polo-clad douchebag shows up and declares that Eddie’s study spot is actually his.

Summary
He sits on the side of his bed, Dustin on his left, the room quiet and sun filled. He can hear the door in the room over open and close constantly, footsteps on the carpet quietly thudding by but his bedroom door never creaks open, leaving them free of any interruptions in this conversation. He’s wanted to tell Dustin for a while, explain everything and now he has his chance, since the little brat cornered him in his room and demanded to hear the truth, the full truth, sworn on the bible. It’s terrifying, the urge to grab a cigarette to quell the trembling of his hands nearly overwhelming. But he’s left his pack in the kitchen and if he doesn’t have the courage to explain now, will he ever? So Steve sits and he thinks, thinks back to the start and everything that came after.
