What if Lucifer is the one who got stabbed with Azrael's blade?
He just wanted to hear her lovely voice one last time before he disappeared. If there was anyone who could soothe the merciless horror ripping through his soul, it would be his Detective.
It was always her.
“Hey, Lucifer.” He could hear a smile in her voice, “Please don’t tell me you’re still worried.”
“Worried?” He breathed, using whatever willpower he had left to sound… normal.
“About the car accident? Me dying?”
Oh.
That felt like eons ago.

Summary
Mid season four - Ever since Charlotte’s murder, every breath Dan takes burns like a brand. Drowning in equal measures of rage and despair, he takes his pain out on the person who he has decided is to blame for everything. Lucifer.
But when his harsh words produce an adverse effect in his least favorite consultant, Dan is faced with the realization that there’s no need for him to tell Lucifer he’s guilty. He already knows.
Or, Lucifer uses Dan's own anger as a way to punish himself for the death of Charlotte and the results spiral further than Dan could have ever realized.

Summary
Chloe runs away after she sees Lucifer with his Devil Face. She doesn't see the aftermath: not Lucifer passing out from his wounds, nor Pierce surviving and taking the Devil as his reward.
Meanwhile, Dan thinks that Lucifer has run off after confronting Pierce, just like Chloe did. Whilst raiding a one of the Sinnerman's bases, however, he comes across Lucifer, bleeding and broken, and realizes just how wrong he was.
