All of that was, quite frankly, almost too much. She really was pretty impressed it had taken so long for her to have one of her freak-outs. What had ended up being the straw that broke the camel’s back was this: Grace had found herself unable to shoot a pretty zombie.

Sitting alone didn’t help Ella feel better. It actually kind of made her feel worse. There was a weird pull inside of her telling her to go and hold Iris, to pick her up, to make her feel good and safe. The amount of willpower it was taking for her to stay put was honestly a little ridiculous. Something was wrong with her, and she needed to go see Iris.
