Summary
Billy Hargrove doesn't keep his promise to Max. He doesn't keep it in a pretty spectacular fashion, actually. Instead of staying away from her friends, he murders one of them.
Unfortunately for Billy, Hellfire meets right after basketball practice. And fortunately for Steve, Eddie knows CPR.
(Or: There is a clearly defined set of steps to keep someone's heart beating. There's no guide for the aftermath. Steve, Eddie, and everyone they love write one together.)

Summary
Steve never tells anyone about Billy. He watches Max disappear into herself with grief and guilt but he can’t bring himself to tell her that he feels it, too. That he knows the loss is mixed up with hatred and relief, but is still pure in the way it pierces something fundamental inside of him, and he gets it. He just never tells anyone.
But then there is Eddie Munson, with a wickedness that feels wholesome and warm and slowly, Steve is starting to think he might want it. He just doesn’t think he can figure it out without first figuring out how to let go of Billy.
