Jean didn’t bother looking through the newer plans. She had copies of those. And she didn’t bother with the oldest either, the ones he’d made before he'd perfected his craft. Jean went straight to cabinet G-C, one of the smallest, right in the middle of the labyrinth, the one designated for plans that had been outmoded, rendered obsolete, or simply judged subpar. She set the bottle on top and got to work flicking through.
It was ten am by the time she’d finished.
The bottle was empty.
Jean sat cross-legged, leaned against the cabinet, open files strewn around her as she thumbed the side of one plan, one glorious, ridiculous plan simply labelled ‘In Case of Emergency’.
