Summary
Soundwave was no stranger to loss. The war had taken and taken, and after some...unfortunate orders from Megatron involving Starscream, it seems intent on taking yet more.
As for Starscream, he is alone, as always, the cold seeping into his plating and darkness closing in.
War is a hungry beast, and they have so little left to give. But some lingering hope whispers that here, in the eye of the storm, they can find comfort, and perhaps more.

Summary
The Yawning Cavern could not be found on any map.
Humans avoided this place, some subconscious command turning them away from its borders.
Even to the Decepticons’ powerful scanners and satellites, it was a great writhing mass just slightly to the left of the world, a thing that left technology sparking and spitting static. It slipped away from any attempts at marking it down as an existing location.
But, the Nemesis’ energon radar had detected some in the area—the biggest hoard since Cybertron’s great mines—so they had to investigate. Even Megatron came along to secure the potential mine. Starscream’s powerful energon-seeking equipment struggled to pinpoint the exact location, so they brought part of the seeker armada to scour the area.
Big mistake.

Dreadwing just wants to keep the new recruits safe, but war is coming, and the well of choices and freedom is running dry.
Also, Thundercracker is a butterfly, Skywarp is too enthusiastic, and Starscream was probably dropped as a child.

Summary
After Starscream's disastrous attempt to join the Autobots, he flees, only to be found by Optimus with the intent of bringing him back to base. Things go horribly wrong, though, and the two are imprisoned in a cave-in. Optimus asks Starscream to try again at joining the Autobots and to renounce his Decepticon ways, but Optimus learns from Starscream that the line between Autobots and Decepticons is blurrier than he thought, and that the Autobots are more similar to Decepticons than he'd like. Starscream and Optimus soon learn that there is much more to both of them than either one thought.
Starscream makes a bold choice and betrays Megatron in a way he never has before. He joins the Autobots.
And Megatron is not pleased.
