Summary
The Core’s screams echo in her ears as Marcy falls to the ground, her face etched into an expression of unbearable pain. She felt that, didn’t she? Sasha’s legs move without thought. She crumples at her best friend’s side.
"And examining Marcy's memories, it's doubtful you ever were," The voice repeats in her head.
She does not like how much it sounds- sounded- like Marcy Wu, but so unhuman. A feeling of déjà vu comes over her and god, when did everything become so blurry? There’s tears falling to the disturbingly clean floor. Battles were dusty, bloody and sweaty, not sophisticated. She didn’t know why it set her off so much. Sasha gently picks up her friend’s head, tears still streaming down her face like an unpredictable river.
“Marcy?” Her voice sounds choked, and she doesn’t think she’s ever been this terrified before.
There was no movement. Not even the rise and fall of her chest. She was still. No pulse when Sasha’s fingers rested on the side of her neck.

In the grand scheme of things, though, her injury’s not important—not when Grime’s just lost an arm, not when the fate of their world half depends on her stopping Darcy, not when Marcy is lying unconscious in her arms with a pulse that’s too faint for comfort.
And definitely not when the Core takes control of the moon and sends it hurtling toward them, intent on destroying Amphibia.
