“Can I ask you something?” Mic asks, slowly looking away from the sky as the cloud passes and the sun’s rays shine on them again.
“Of course.”
“Why do you want to be a hero, Kaminari?” Mic’s voice is gentle, as if he’s afraid to break whatever somber mood has settled over them as well.
Kaminari looks down, into the sea of people walking so far below them. Kaminari can’t hear them, can barely make out their faces, even. But, he can imagine what they’re doing. Adults walking to and from work, or the store running errands. Some laden with bags, others with briefcases. Teenagers and kids walking home from school, stopping at corner stores and arcades to hang out longer with their friends. Families walking downtown, children in the middle, clutching their parent’s hands and laughing in joy. Everyone living their lives, in their own bubbles, going about their day. Kaminari can feel himself smiling as he observes them.
Or, Kaminari interns with Present Mic. It goes better than Kaminari could have ever hoped.

Kaminari Denki was a bit of a mess.
He struggled with school work, was still short circuiting during training and never could find what he needed.
His friends knew this and tried to help whenever they could. Keeping extra equipment for him or helping him study. Kaminari was always grateful, he really couldn’t do this without his friends. He made sure to do something special for them once in a while to show them how much he appreciates it.
The only person who didn’t seem to help him much was Bakugo. But he was like that with everyone.

Five times Kaminari was oblivious to the fact Bakugo cares and the one time he finally realizes he does.
