Vi wiped her chin. “You want me to be your fuck-buddy?”
“I would put it more elegantly,” Cait replied as she adjusted her skirt.
“But why me?” Vi asked. Her palm sweat nervously against the bleachers. She and Cait weren't close. In fact, they had hardly interacted.
In Vi's eyes, the beautiful, high-status president was completely out of her league. Because of that crush, there had only been passing glances in their shared lecture hall - with Vi staring at her oh-so-longingly, feeling like a total creep.
“Because you're straightforward, Vi,” Cait said, her voice calm and confident. “You don't play the fake campus politics that everyone else does. You're safe, and frankly, I know you've been looking at me in lecture.”
Vi's face burned hot. She opened her mouth to deny it, but Cait just smiled softly.
“Plus, you're the star of the soccer team,” Cait added, a playful glint in her eyes. “Your endurance is common knowledge. My last arrangement was severely lacking in that department, and I don't like my time wasted. I want someone who can actually keep up with me. No drama, no expectations. Just you, me, and your athletic endurance. So, are you in?”

“Guess I got curious about what fun stuff you got up to without us,” Vi’s voice was small.
Caitlyn’s fingers twitched. “I would have gone to the dinner if I was in the mood for that right now.” She spoke as softly as she could, making sure there was no bite in her tone.
“Well, that’s the thing, though,” said Vi, “you say you don’t want company but you haven’t kicked me out yet.”
Caitlyn looked at her over her shoulder. Vi was leaning against the door of the fridge, hands in her jeans pockets, features relaxed.
Caitlyn smiled lopsidedly, “Guess the delivery might just be special, after all.”
Vi snorted, “Stop stroking my ego to change the subject. It works.”
“I know,” said Caitlyn, brushing past her and going for the couch again.
