The bruises kept piling up though, the limp never faded, his lip never quite healed.
Rick wanted to believe Negan could handle himself, wanted to believe the lies and stories the older teen spun. He waited too long to start asking the right questions. By the time he was ready to face the truth, Negan was already gone.
And Rick is left with guilt, grief, and the weight of everything he didn’t say. Now it's too late to say them.

Negan is amused when he finds out and is determined to make Carl's life a living hell. While Negan messes with the teen, he is dodging Rick's investigation of the recent murders in the area.
Worst of all, Negan has a slight thing for Carl's dad.
