Summary
Little does Lieutenant Smoker know when he saves an orphaned girl from her certain death that she decides to not leave his side. And all of a sudden he becomes a guardian who promises to take care of this seven-year-old ward called Sooki who is both haunted by her past and full of nonsense at the same time. How did Smoker get into this? Why did he or anybody think that he is certifiably sane enough to take care of a kid when he barely made it out of puberty himself? But over the years, his ward Sooki grows up to be a kind-hearted and strong person, wanting to step into Smoker's shoes as a marine soldier and leaving her guardian with more questions: does he have a right to dictate his ward how to live her life? And is Sooki ready to follow her own path?

Okay, so hypothetically. Let’s say your parents did a very bad job at ruling a country and then said country got overthrown by a revolution.
Then, let’s play with the idea that you, as the heir to the throne, fled so you wouldn’t meet a bloody death at the guillotine. Reasonable right?
But what if you got mistaken for a civilian by the revolutionaries? And that you now were sitting in the middle of their base as the thundering sounds of civil war could be heard in the distance. What exactly would be the best thing to do in this situation?
