Usopp shifted his gaze from the ship to Luffy. "What do you mean?"
"You're hiding something from us."
"There's nothing to tell." Luffy, please drop it, Usopp thought. This isn't like you.
But Luffy approached Usopp slowly, with his determined gaze that always meant he was ready to defend his Nakama, even if the threat was coming from within.
Whether it was on the battlefield or the deck of the Thousand Sunny, Luffy was not one to easily let go of something, especially when a friend's well-being was at risk.
On the other hand, Merry reappearing in Usopp's life once again complicated things for him.

Nami. Thinking her name outright like that made Zoro’s brow knit, and the uncomfortable feeling in his gut churn. Zoro didn’t understand why her image was suddenly swimming in his mind’s eye, her choppy orange hair and carefree smile, like the sweet nectarines she loved so much. Nami was his crewmate, their navigator, a friend. Often, during their time as crewmates, he felt aggravation and annoyance towards her, certainly more so than did Sanji, Usopp, or even Luffy. There were definitely times when he did feel closer to her than usual, but that felt more protective and brotherly, and the feeling usually faded away when imminent danger subsided, and things went back to normal. This story goes over the relationship of Mihawk and Moria in the Happy Coradrag AU. How they met, how they loved, and how it all fell apart with one stupid decision.
Remember people: communication is the building blocks of any healthy relationship.
These two unfortunately never learned that.

I’m honestly surprised that there aren't more stories about them.
