“There is this club. Here in Boston. It is queer club, but secret. No phones, sign NDA beforehand. The cover charge is high, so is more– more exclusive.” He says this nonchalantly, gesturing to the air. He looks up and makes eye contact with Shane. “We could go.” Shrugs. “Together.”
Shane stares at him, mouth open slightly. He waits for the punchline, like Rozanov is setting up some ridiculous joke. Rozanov just stares back at him, almost as if he isn’t breathing. It takes Shane a second to realize that he is being serious, and the earnestness of the invitation nearly brings him to his knees.
“Ilya Rozanov,” Shane grins. “Are you asking me out on a date?”

Summary
In Vegas, after they’d said everything right up to the edge of I love you, Shane and Ilya came up with a plan. It was long term, with many, many steps. There might be a spreadsheet somewhere that Shane won’t admit to.
But it’s a plan, nonetheless. Over the summer of 2014, they tweak it and add things important to the both of them. There are even many, extensive, contingency plans.

Thanks to Shane's small lie the first time they hooked up, Shane and Ilya are together years earlier. Now, they have to figure out what to do about it.

Shane didn’t hear from Ilya again for the rest of the day. He had just crawled into bed, and was about to slip on his glasses on to read the book from his bedside table when his phone buzzed
The message he found when he opened their thread was not what he expected
Lily: I think you packed wrong shirt by mistake.
The photo was Ilya’s hands holding Shane’s white t-shirt. He stared at the picture as heat rose to his cheeks, biting his lower lip as he tried to figure out what he should respond. Before he could start typing another message appeared.
Lily: This one is too small for me.
Shane scowled, his embarrassment quickly turning to annoyance.
Jane: It is not. We are the same size.
Lily: Uh, no. We are not. I am bigger than you.
Jane: Asshole. You are not.
Lily: You have seen me without shirt. Do not pretend.
Or
What if Ilya answered the phone call from his brother when Shane was at his house. What if Shane could be there for him and how would it have changed their relationship moving forward?
