Civilians have always claimed that Ninja are inhuman. (The civilian rumours are not wrong.) The Ninja have always dismissed the accusations. (They should not have.)
Just because Ninja a mostly human now does not mean that is the way it has always been...
... Or that it will remain that way.
Those that fall can also rise. Madara takes the first step. Tobirama follows. Together they make it the rest of the way. (They pave the way for others to follow.)

What village? Madara almost asks, but then of course there can only be one village in this context: Konoha. His and Hashirama's childhood dream, something Madara had set aside years ago. The dream of peace, the dream of safe children, the idea that had lit Hashirama's face up and set a fire burning in his eyes...
Tobirama has that look, too.
Tobirama believes.
Tobirama time travels into a female body, publicly pretends to still be a man, gets kidnapped by bloodline thieves, and accepts a marriage proposal.
