It’s why he tells Aziraphale you can’t leave this bookshop, because he knows what will happen when he does. When Aziraphale goes missing, Crowley finds some of his earliest visions coming true. There’s only one thing left to do: go up to Heaven to get Aziraphale back.

    Summary

While attempting to rescue Aziraphale from a dangerous situation in Heaven, Crowley is killed. Aziraphale makes a bargain with God to get him back. Only, he’s got to find him, first.

“Anthony, I have your Mr. Fell here,” Madame Tracy says, in her breathy medium voice. “Is there anything you’d like to say to him?”
Yeah, comes Crowley’s voice out of Madame Tracy’s mouth, and Aziraphale grabs the edge of the table with his free hand until it cracks under his grip. He doesn’t notice. Because it is Crowley. He knows it like he knows - well, anything, really. Crowley continues, Yeah, you can tell that self-righteous arse “I told you so.”
Shadwell, lurking around the edge of the room, mutters a blasphemy under his breath.

    Summary

The next time Crowley sees Aziraphale after the day he broke his heart, entered a blinding white lift, and left him behind, it’s in almost the exact same place.

    Three interminable months later.

That awful day, driving aimless and slow in a silent Bentley, Crowley wasn’t sure if he would ever see Aziraphale again, let alone so soon, considering the way they left things. He tried to tell himself that he didn’t care if he ever clapped eyes on his white blonde curls, steel gray eyes, and ridiculous tartan bow tie ever again, but the tears threatening to spill out from behind his sunglasses betrayed his true feelings.

(Not to mention the random but persistent spots of bright yellow paint on his car’s otherwise pure black sheen, ruthlessly rubbed out with an index finger the temperature of an open flame.)

    Summary

After the Second Coming’s come and gone, Crowley moves to the South Downs. Aziraphale stays in London. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t come to visit.

Or, Aziraphale’s his own angel, now. He just has to learn what that means.

When Crowley wakes up again, two weeks later, Aziraphale knows. He can feel it tugging at the edges of his essence. No, it’s going straight through him, like oil dropped in water. On the human level, he can feel it in his chest, a tight, hot thing. He stops in the middle of rearranging the cooking books, holding Cabbage the Athenian Way in one hand. Once he determines Crowley’s not going back to sleep, he reshelves the book, walks back to his desk, and sits himself down. He waits until a decorous amount of time passes, and then he calls Crowley.
Crowley picks up on the second ring. Strange; he’s never had to wait that long before.

    Summary

"On a second glance, Aziraphale didn't look all that different--his clothes were frayed at the edges, his shoes scuffed, his bowtie missing--and hang on, was he bleeding?
Crowley wasn't sure how he'd missed the thin trail of blood running down the side of his very-drenched head, but it was all too noticeable now.
He found his voice again. "What are you doing here?"
"Right," Aziraphale said. "Um..." His eyes went unfocused, and he wobbled. Crowley found himself, despite his utter shock at the situation, beginning to worry.
    "Aziraphale, what happened to you?"
    "What do you mean?"
    "You're bleeding."
"I'm what?" Aziraphale reached up and touched the side of his head, eyes widening in surprise at the blood that smeared his fingertips. "Oh. So I am."
    "What are you--?"
"Listen," Aziraphale said, "I'm terribly sorry to do this, because I know we aren't talking, but there's something I need to ask of you."
Crowley nodded slowly, his worry growing the more unfocused the angel's eyes became. "And what's that?"
"I'm afraid I need your help," Aziraphale said matter-of-factly, and toppled forward without another word."
