“We knew it was going to happen.” Pantalone looked tired. No. He didn’t just look. He was. He was so awfully tired. Tired of bearing the burden of his husband’s death on his shoulders. Of pretending the man is well and alive in Sumeru and had to stay longer. Of trying to grieve but having no time to. Because Mora never stopped flowing, and someone had to manage it all.
“That selfish– He didn’t even have the decency to say goodbye.” He bowed his head low, unable to take the information. “He made us watch him walk away knowing fully well he wouldn’t come back.” Hands clenched into fists until he was shaking. With rage? Or perhaps sorrow? He wasn’t fully aware himself.
