“Master Diluc?”
No answer.
Kaeya exhales with displeasure, barely keeping from scowling. “Master Diluc, can you hear me?” He tries to keep a teasing tone, rather than show just how much this indifference game hurts him. “Hm?”
“…” Diluc sighs and deliberately turns his head away. Ouch.
Diluc suddenly becomes unable to see Kaeya. Thinking it’s just Diluc’s usual hatred for him, Kaeya doesn't suspect anything wrong.

Summary
The blank facade cracks and emotions cycle through Diluc at breakneck speeds. Kaeya witnesses them all. Sadness, anger, regret, guilt. Kaeya himself is experiencing regret for being so honest. He could’ve lied. Lying is safe and easy and always the best choice.
“What would it take for you to stop?” Diluc finally asks.
“Nothing, I’m afraid.”
Another truth he regrets telling.
In order to lure people into telling him their dirty little secrets, Kaeya takes them to bed. Diluc is displeased by this.

Summary
Kaeya finds himself on the end of a cliff, scrambling to return to the top and be normal. Diluc no longer can pretend that he doesn’t feel. Both of them circle each other, not wanting to be the first to give in – a complicated story on it’s own without the backdrop of a monster on the loose and Mondstadt trying to be competent to conquer another horror, this time in their walls. With the world closing in around them, they learn to fight together once more to save Mondstadt, but this time, not leaving each other behind to fend in the cold.
