No, he was happy to be a background Octavinelle student. He had a newborn son to raise, he didn't have time for any of that.
It was unfortunate, then, that the person he had a crush on was, quite possibly, the main character.

Rin Hattori didn’t wish for this – certainly not. All he wanted to do was go to the studio, or maybe even the park to get some fresh air, and yet, here he was, whisked away to a different world that had magic.
At first, like a reasonable human being, he thought that perhaps, the universe had abandoned him in this fever dream. Was he so close to death that god had decided to tempt him? Surely death would be better than being stuck in a place like this, right?
Sadly, he ended up enrolling in Night Raven College.
It couldn't be helped, he supposed, forming a solid game plan. Do well enough not to fail in his academics, research a way home, avoid music like the plague, teach some goddamn English, and maybe do some art here and there while he was at it— hey, what could he say, this was another world after all. But most importantly, he resolved himself to try and keep it low-key.
In hindsight, Rin would’ve scoffed. What part of this is low-key? He wanted to scream.
(Oh, his friends back at home were going to absolutely lose it. What joy.)

Summary
Kalim, finally deciding to leave the Mirror Chamber after realizing that he had explored everything it had to offer, took a step back from the Dark Mirror. However, what he didn’t expect was that his hand would be caught before he could take even one step.
He flinched, and his eyes snapped down at what was holding his hand. Except he couldn't catch a single glance as he was tugged towards the mirror. He yelped, his scream echoing finely against the empty room.
“AUUUUGGG—”
Everything went silent.
What once held one, now held none.
And the strange thing about it all, was the way the Mirror glowed with satisfaction

“AUUUUUUGH—”
The next thing Kalim came to realize was that he was falling towards the floor, his vision took a nosedive too soon. His scream caught in his throat as both his knees and hands smacked against the floor in a crack. The feeling of his body hitting the cold hard floor made him wince, his mouth half agape at the pain.
“Hey isn't that…?”
“...Scarabia’s Housewarden?”
“Did he just appear out of the Dark Mirror?”
