He’d been discounting all the signs, wanting to believe in Phil’s promises, Techno’s comfort, Wilbur’s reassurances. He’d wanted to believe that they were telling the truth about wanting to change. And because he’d wanted it to be true so damn badly, he’d overlooked all the warning bells nearly smacking him in the face. Well, it was all clear now. They were manipulating him as easily as Dream had, and even if they hadn’t hurt him or exploded his things, it would only be a matter of time before they showed their true colors.
Tommy didn’t want to think about it. He dug his fingernails into his calves as his vision shifted out of focus again. It felt a bit like being dead. Everything was hazy. No one was there. Just him: alone, trapped, terrified.
