The fic follows the failed Jeju Island raid.
Jong-In decides the best way to deal with his failure is to burry himself in work. He knows what people call him, he's the strongest hunter alive, and he has to live up to it.
It's not like he lost a limb like so many others, or a best friend, or even his life like many hunters that followed him into that hell hole.
If the others need time to process, that's fine. Jong-In will support them, he'll stick to working until he passes out, waked up (from a nightmare) and then working again.
Seems like a solid plan.
If only Baek Yoon-Ho would stop pestering him.
Or
AU in which every pair of soulmates have a link that's activated upon contact. Jong-In and Yoon-Ho have only ever used it to squabble and give each other headaches.
After the Jeju raid, Jong-In tries to burn himself out in work and Yoon-Ho goes "I don't fu*king think so" -

We were about to check the houses individually” the other cuts off his companions’ stuttering efficiently, but his words strike fear into Ranboo’s unbeating heart. The game was over before he had the chance to join.
“Ranboo darling it’s us” George cooed, and Ranboo knew better than to hide now, he sighed in defeat and crept towards the door.This has nothing to do with the original creators, only the fictional characters. If they express discomfort at any point this fic is gone.
