“Oh, you look so cute,” Yeonjun squeals, hands over his face. A few other customers send him dirty looks, though the kids eye him interest. Like they've decided exactly what they’re going to be when they’re older.
“I’m not cute,” Soobin grumbles with a fucking Christmas bauble on his head, “I’m a threat.”
Yeonjun keels over laughing, supernovae distilled into pockets of laughter. (And maybe it’s worth it. Maybe it’s all worth it.) He pats Soobin’s cheek, unclips the bauble, which Soobin now sees is bright and glittery and most definitely printed with… reindeers? “You’re never a threat to me, darling.”

Soobin hears the sigh of relief Yeonjun lets out, feeling the weight on his chest get worse, like a hand pressing down on him. He didn't realise how bad things had gotten, that hearing just a few words from Soobin was enough to take away so much stress from Yeonjun. He's always tried to be as small a burden on Yeonjun as he could be, but he knew it was never enough. He was always too much.

Yeonjun starts the year by asking for a break, and Soobin learns the hard way that losing his boyfriend meant almost losing his entire world.
