    I tried to come up with a slightly realistic plot where Finnick survives the muttations and the explosion. This fic is his journey of getting back to Annie in District Four.

    “What were you thinking?” he asks, quietly, but though he tries, he cannot keep the irritation from his tone. “That was a stupid thing to do, Tech.”

    Tech bristles, just as Hunter expected, and a part of him wants it. He aches for a fight, for some way of letting out the tension, a way of easing the hurt and the grief. They weren’t trained to handle emotions. Hunter doesn’t know how to process everything he’s feeling and pushing it all down to deal with later only works for so long.

    Upon returning from a simple supply run, the last thing Hunter expected to hear was that Tech went racing in his absence. He’s angry, yes, but more than that, he’s afraid. He can’t bear to lose another brother.

    David's eyes trailed to the spot Tommy had become so fixated on before he fell. The name was a familiar one, one that he had been in same year as. He wasn't especially close to the other teen, as they had been on different teams. If anything, they had circled each other but never really interacted. All he knew was that the other teen had died during the M-Day attack after he had been depowered.

     

    “Who was Mark Sheppard?” David finally gathered the courage to ask.

     

    Tommy drew a shuddering breath before speaking, “He was my brother.”
