Their destined fight was finally over. Both had lived, though that wasn't too unexpected. They hadn't been fighting for the kill as much as for the enjoyment of it. Sprawled out in the dirt of Urahara's training grounds, they were both bleeding and panting, grinning up at the fake blue sky above them.
"You know," Ichigo said into the surprisingly companionable silence, "I kind of thought you'd show up to fight me after the first war." He rolled his head to look at the Arrancar and found blue eyes already watching him.
"Dumbass." Grimmjow's smile was sharp-toothed and full of secrets. "What makes you think I didn't?"

Summary
Freshly reunited with his powers (and his spirits) after the showdown with the Fullbringers, Ichigo Kurosaki is content to go back to the kind of daily life he wants to live. Fate and biology however have other plans. When his inner hollow causes him to develop some concerning behaviors, he retreats to Hueco Mundo to ride out whatever is happening to him.
It was a good plan, a great plan even, except Grimmjow Jaegarjaques hunts him down across the vast wastes with vicious intent. He bulldozes right through Ichigo's life as usual, claiming something about 'stupid Alpha reiatsu kickstarting his heat' and goes right for the kill as he always does. When Ichigo and his hollow claim victory, though, things start to go very differently.
They'd always been compatible in other ways, but as hollow biology comes into play everything goes off the rails.Series
